I've got to admit that I was a bit pissed off at how the General's regeneration was handled. Everything about it was written and shot to emphasise how totally progressive they're being. Doctor Who isn't subtle about the SJW stuff at the best of times, but this was the BBC crying out for attention. The show isn't actually real. Moffat isn't writing down the history of what happened. "Well, Clara's TARDIS turned into a diner so that's what I have to put in the show."

I'm kinda satisfied. But All I really wanted was the closest thing to the Doctor declaring war on Gallifrey.
That's what the episode started out as. Until Clara came back into the picture. If the episode was just the Doctor fighting Gallifrey until he realized that it was pointless, then I would've been fully satisfied. That IS what they were hyping Hell Bent to be.
After 10 years, the Time Lords come back as a mere footnote to help the Doctor resurrect his waifu.
And she didn't even become a Time Lady/Hybrid and regenerate so a different actress could play her. GG Moffat.
Few issues I had, but loved it nonetheless.

Ashildr being the Hybrid, but this reveal had nothing on Missy being the Master (for those who forget, I literally screamed "WHAT?!"). Turning Clara and Ashildr into a tag-team of time-travelling immortal gals. I dunno, I find the matching odd.

He might have a plan, but the problem with replacing the audience every so often and the constant "soft reboots" is that every arc ends up being setup for another that ends up setting up another arc that ends up ignoring the plot points that set it up because its a long running show and you can't get tangled up in continuity. I miss when every series was self contained, now everything is a cliffhanger and there are no payoffs.

Madness. Series 6's first two episodes were great and nailed the classic scary horror of Doctor Who with the Silence, plus we had The Girl Who Waited and The Doctor's Wife. This series has been pretty awful 2bh and has offered nothing close to that. Although last week was a good episode I'm still convinced it only seemed amazing because of the shit we've been served this year. Capaldi is being wasted.
