I don't like it because I love the original story and leaving out the Gods basically ruins it.
The Gods were a commentary on humanity and its struggle, keeping it out and making it look like Hector was the asshole for killing Menelaos were really retarded choices.
Also having Briseides actually be a character and not an object, the whole point of klèos in that ancient culture was related to one's worth, not love or shit like that, that's why Achilles was mad.
Also cutting out based Diomedes and Glaucos scene.

It's never implied in the original text, where Homer goes as far as to say they both have their personal female sex slaves in the verses where Nestor, Odysseus, Fenix and Diomedes go to beg Achilles.
It was a deep friendship since Patroklos was the guy driving the chariot and that kind of relationship was very important and deep in old warfare where nobles drove Chariots and you had to trust your driver a lot.
