Well the problem was that it was supposed to take over LiveJournal and be more art friendly (a la DeviantArt) but those fucking idiots chose to use # tags to find other communities because it's hip and lazier to code in, instead of having a community tab like both sides had that didn't show trending group but rather ALL groups that people could be interested in.
So if the user wanted to expand their circle and look at new art styles or different topics they'd head to the community tab and check out cool stuff.
