Is there a Hindu film (in either English or with subtitles) worth watching that doesn't have the whole gross bollywood vibe? Not looking for any type of love story. Looking for a thought provoking, deep, really good story.
>>
I don't know why, but they would call them hindi film instead of hindu, unless you really mean hindu and looking for something with siva or krishna or whatever

These movies are hard to find in any language. Asking about them on /tv/ never yields any satisfying results, let alone when asking about hindi ones.

I'm on my phone. I typed in hindi, my phone autocorrexted to hindu. But, a film on these subjects would be cool as well

Even better, there's an anime

Saw it on TCM, really fantastic

Star with Pather Panchali, then watch the other films in the Apu trilogy, then try Charulata, Nayak Kanchenjunga or The Chess Players

What tripe. Do you have to be Japanese to "get" Kurosawa's films, whatever that means? Also, Ray's films are heavily influenced by European arthouse.

I'd watch a movie about the Hindus fighting off the Muslim butchers who assaulted them for eight centuries. Of course, all the Hindu men and women would be wearing all of that cool Hindi culturally styled armor and such.
