Best agent in hollywood. How does this fucking guy get so many great scripts.
>>
They aren't great when he gets them. He makes them great when he performs them.
>>
>how does a famous actor get so many great scripts

HMMMMMMMM
>>
Most hollywood actors get great scripts but they would rather do shit that gives them big paychecks like capeshit or Adam Sandler movies.
>>
>>63329929
He refused to sell out.
>>
>>63329947
no one is getting consistently good scripts like him though.
>>
>>63329947
Plenty of famous actors get shit scripts.
You're useless.
>>
>>63330006
>>63329947
he hasn't been in a bad movie in 13 years.

And plenty of them get great scripts.

You're not invalidating what I said.
>>
>>63330003
sort of this. He does mostly small budget movies with great scripts instead of typical big blockbusters. I actually can't think of a big blockbuster he was in. He could probably make it sweet though, Jake made prince of persia a really fun movie. It was very pirates of the caribbean tier

tbqh Only God Forgives isn't a bad movie, specially not 5.5 bad, I think the problem is the story isn't a story you'll like to hear, and even if we go beyond the story, it sometimes doesn't even make sense for the sake of being arthouse.

So yes, it's a bit too pretentious and edgy but not as bad as RT would like to make you think.

only god forgives is a 10/10 desu

>>
>>63330485
You really think it deserved a 0.5/4? Seriously? It's one wrung above sex and the city 2?
>>
>>63330301
Five and a half isn't a terrible score on IMDB. If it isn't the latest super hero blockbuster it's probably going to be sitting around a seven. Your less mainstream movies a little lower.
>>
>>63330511
Not true, Ebert saw the movie and gave it a 0.5/4 from his grave

Goose himself actually has some taste and goes beyond just being a typical Hollywood actor.
When Drive was in production his contract said that he could choose the director and he was the one who brought Refn to LA and even drove him around for location scouting because Refn is a colorblind autist who failed his driving exam about 20 times.
>>
>>63329929
Has he done many comedic roles? Judging from the Nice Guys trailer he's really well suited for it.
>>
>>63332573
i don't understand the point you are trying to make. his agent got him the script. his agent got him the contract. gosling probably saw bronson and thought he'd be good. if anything drive is poorly directed so again your point is null.

>his agent got him the script.
His agent also gets him hundreds of scripts, it's ultimately up to the to decide whether to do the film or not.

>his agent got him the contract.
True, but I'm sure the contract didn't have him going out at night doing location scouting with the director.

>if anything drive is poorly directed
Fuck off.
>>

Even Refn admitted it was shit

Stop underestimating Jake Gyllenhaal.
>>
>>63333430
Jake has a higher ceiling his great films are better than goslings great films. but Jake picks some fucking awful scripts man. gosling hasn't been in a bad film in his adult life.

Art once it's released to the public is not in the control of the creator anymore, just because he says it means something doesn't mean it necessarily does and that you can't come up with your own conclusion. The whole point of art is coming up with your own interpretation.
>>
>>63333508

I'd believe you if they weren't the same person.
>>
>>63329929
You gotta read them, memorize, and become them, then later perform them to make them great anon. The goose is just loose is all.
>>
I really need to watch Lost River, Goose has worked with enough auteurs that he must have become one himself.
>>
>>63332968

>>
>>63330148
He probably made a lot of money off The Notebook, it wasn't a blockbuster necessarily but it was a huge commercial success
>>
>>63330485
>Ebert, a "patrician".
Who are you trying to kid here?

I agree though, OGF was pretty boring and went into the wrong direction, visuals alone, especially if they are so homogenous in colors and lighting, cannot turn a movie with such a weak script into a great movie.
>>
what movie is gosling good in
>>
>>63332573
This, Goose went after Refn and their meeting went badly at first until Refn saw some autistic vision. Original story was on Late Show with Conan but they removed it. Source:

Half Nelson, Blue Valentine, Lars and The Real Girl, Crazy Stupid Love for comedy.
