The second time I watched this I felt her emotional breakdown was more like how a sexual abuse victim would feel.
>>
This.
As much as I liked this movie, there is no denying the conflict with her was contrived as fuck.
>>
>>63322538
>>63322959
You people obviously have never had a breakdown or been close to one. It's shitty and can be (pardon my use of the word) triggered by a simple mess up.
>>
>>63322959
>A child being upset about moving and starting a new school is contrived
Were you never a child or something?
>>
>>63323141
Not on that level no
That's all that happened and she breaks down that bad? Fuck that
>>
>>63323141
Never moved as a child, so maby I just don't get it.
>>
>>63323141

i moved 5 times in my younger life and i'm not in a military family i had a tough time making friends but i didn't have a breakdown

>i'm not a girl though.
>>
>>63323243
>i didn't have a breakdown

Many people have a breakdown, but never really know about it and no one really notices it. It doesn't need to be cinematic.
>>
>>63323190
*sigh*
When are you guys gonna learn that not all children are the same? Some are better equipped to handle this kind of stuff than others. This is made even more clear by the fact that Riley was obviously depressed, as evident by the way the emotion panel goes black. Stop being ignorant.
>>
>>63323354
>obviously depressed
Yeah OK

Go back to tumblr, this fucking generation I swear
>>
>>63323354

>>
I've had a lot of emotional breakdown.
I still have them to be quite honest with you.
>>
I'd be interested in watching the movie with all the scenes evolving the emotions removed. I just couldn't get emotionally invested in the movie since it focused too much on the emotion characters instead of the girl.
>>
>>63323390
The fact that she's depressed isn't up for debate, moron. It's in the fucking movie.
>>
>>63323417

Are white males not even allowed to be in animated flicks nowadays
>>
>>63323513
The dad was a white male.
>>
>>63323512
>*sigh*

Riley wasn't depressed. She was just unable to express her feelings (sadness was absent).
>>
>>63323417
>>63323512
depression don't real. you're literally doing it to yourself because its socially glamorous to be emo. not to mention profitable to pharma $$$.
>>
Friendly reminder Heynckes' Bayern played possession football in every single game of that treble winning season other than 1 game vs Arsenal and the Barcelona tie

Friendly reminder the only teams they could truly dominate were Conte's Juventus in their first CL season and Barcelona who were in utter shambles at that point. They finished level on points with Valencia in the group stage (losing to BATE in the process), were 1 goal away from going out against fucking Arsenal, beat Dortmund on a last minute winner, beat Dortmund in the cup final with some major refball and couldn't beat Dortmund in the league
>>
>>63323513
Why do you think she had a nervous breakdown. She was suddenly surrounded by shitskins

Inside Out is literally Big Pharma: The Movie
>>
>>63323982
What do you mean?
>>
The ending where she hugs her parents got me some serious feels. My parents would have just told me they were disappointed in me.

If I ever have kids, I want to be able to comfort them like the parents in Inside Out do.
>>
I haven't seen this movie yet. would it be gay af to watch it alone on a friday night?
>>
>>63325409
Still less gay than shitposting on 4chan with a bunch of male virgins.
>>
The entire movie was White People Angst. There were no serious emotions beside what some sheltered middle class white kid with hipster young parents would go through, without a care in the world or pain in their life so they make up stupid stuff to feel bad about, like moving to a new town is somehow ultra-trauma. No, it's not.

If there had been an element like sexual abuse or serious trauma, like her seeing a friend die, I might have liked the movie more. I was hoping they'd do more with the parents and show them getting broke, going evicted, or becoming homeless, but no such luck. There looked like opportunities to build up to that too.

The only attempt at real "feels" was some goofy elephant prick dying. The worst part was at first I was hoping elephant man would be like the artful dodger or Fagan, all sneaky and manipulative out of desperation to get what he wants, but instead he's just a friendly goofball. Boring af.
>>
>>63325409
Its not gay if you jack it to Riley's mom

I had a breakdown during puberty, had rage fits were I destroyed a 30$ statue, cut up the xmas tree and made it into a staff, also had crying fits, etc. few years ago when I saw my estranged father and he was shit to me, when I got home I vomited from stress. I still did not like the movie. it reminded me of kid whining like when I used to be mad at my dad for being too old (he was 20years older than my mom so everyone mistook him for my grandpa)kind of shit you do when you are 9
>>

I can't believe I never thought of this.

That's the thing. I feel like if sadness was there her being depressed would make sense, but it's like she was in shock. Like some who has been molested or pressured into having sex way too young. Like she didn't understand what was going on and what has happened to her.

What you fedora tippers don't understand is that at a young age, any event can feel like the end of the world. And when you haven't learned perspective or how to feel emotions properly, you can easily overreact.

disney meant to give the message that he was molesting her

it's why Sadness was so out of control, she wasn't overreacting, they just couldn't show the real cause of her trauma
it's why the mom was telling her she had to do her best for her father, and why Anger tried to make her confront her father

White people are so stupid. Sherpas climb Everest every single fucking day but when you do its such a big accomplishment? They are so priviledged that they need to create fake problems just so they can ignore having everything in life handed to them. Little white bitches

>>
>>63328301
The fact of the matter is that the same Sherpa can climb Everest repeatedly as a job

But here comes Mr White Person who thinks hes doing something awesome.

Imagine if white people paid firefighters to help them fight fires and then took pictures of themselves hosing down houses with the real firefighters conveniently out of frame while all their pasty white friends call them so brave
>>
>>63328638
Hi, racist.
>>
You're all retarded.
She wasn't depressed. She wasn't abused.

The film lampshades the entire premise of the movie in the epilogue.

She's a girl who just moved no the cusp of starting puberty. The whole chaos and nonsense of the head characters was the personification of her changing hormones.

Jesus people.

I am so sorry /co/ treated you this way. The one thoughtful review in the thread and it gets shit on. Offending all the middle class white kids who actually thought this was a good movie, making claims of racism and atheism for some reason. This place really has become is tumblr 2.0, I'm not even sure when it happened.

Everyone on here who got in on the first few threads for Inside Out all thought it was a bad idea when the leaks revealed it was just going to be a simple adventure story between Joy and Sadness. Now all of a sudden the centerpiece of the movie's mediocrity, that dumb pink elephant, is loved by everyone because "muh feels?" Grow the fuck up.
>>
>>63335139
I had to deal with both.

My friends were my only support. I could turn to them for everything. They were there to offer me support and a place to stay to avoid my dad beating me and screaming over the littlest us (soda in the living room where it wasn't allowed, getting a minus on an A-) and groping my sisters and trying to "surprise" them in the showers.

Then my sisters moved out for college and during HS I moved and left my friends behind(Twice in HS)I then alone had to almost every night seperate my parents from their often physical fights and stop them from killing each other.
