ITT: Movies Critics Got Wrong
>>
>>63321762
I think usually when a movie's imdb score is significantly higher or lower than the RT score, it's usually a case of critics being shitty critics. deff the case here
>>
revenge of the sith is better than a new hope and return of the jedi
>>
>>63321837
no it isn't
>>
>>63321814
IMBD is usually the one with the shitty critics though.
>>
>>63321837

an unpopular opinion but I respect your right to hold it.
>>
>>63321892
yes it fucking is. RotJ was 2 hours of ewoks and a new hope was an hour and a half of C3P0also no cool fight scenes

The only bad part was Diana Ross, and she wasn't bad enough to ruin the movie.

not that it was completely panned but I think the reviews from critics were more mixed than they ought to have been. the majority of complaints all drew comparison to donner which is ridiculous. I find imdb scores to be more accurate than RT scores these days desu
>>
>>63321837
I defend RotJ with my head-canon that the ewoks were supposed to be Wookies.
>>
>>63321814
It should be the opposite. Most of the time, when there is a huge difference between imdb and RT, RT is closer to the truth.
>>
>>63321973

"Professional" critics are absolute garbage and sellouts
>>
>>63321762

It's about a 8/10, great movie, Wes Anderson's best.
>>
>>63322135

I agree. I find independent critics/general user base to be more reliable overall than a handful of paid jabronis
>>

people who don't like boondock saints have tight buttholes

That movie was bomb as fuck. Easily one of my favorites. I always forget it exists until I am flipping through my old DVDs and then I immediately watch it.

Critics in general got it right, but Leonard Maltin gave 2/4 stars to Shawshank Redemption when it came out.

I don't know about that, Moonrise Kingdom is GOAT.

I haven't seen Shawshank Redemption, but I saw a clip from it and class and thought it looked shitty.

it's slightly better than the average Oscar schlock but it's pretty mediocre

absolutely no need for you to ever see it

You mean they rated it too high?

Seriously tough, I must give credit were it's due. Shitting out such a turd despite many good actors being involved reuires talent.

LMFAO

it had the boring old cliche "HURR WE ARE THE SAME KILLER" garbage plot and garbage acting and no character development.

>"HURR WE ARE THE SAME KILLER"

I guess you're referring to what Robin Williams' character says. No need to get all worked up.
>It's a small piece of dialogue in a2 hour movie.
>People feeling remorse often say things like that to feel better.

Also:
>garbage plot
I liked it. They handled two murder cases developing at the same time really well. Killer/cop dynamic was good, especially the mutual blackmailing.

>garbage acting
Pacino did really well. It's one the last good movies with him. And it's always nice to see Williams in a non-comedic role.

>no character development
None at all, apart from Pacino seeing the wrongs in his past doings and changing from "dirty" to "play by the rules" cop.
>>
>>63322019
I actually enjoyed this too, it felt like a fun B movie and had a good cast.

I'll admit I'm biased because I grew up on it, but I rewatched it recently. Watching The Wiz Live yesterday also made me appreciate the movie more.
The costumes, musical arrangements, actors (except Diana), and set design are great. The empty New York City is eerie and I'm not sure if it fits the story, but I love it. It creates the unfamiliar feeling of a different world.

I don't know why people hate it, even Sidney Lumet hated it.
>>
All of them. You can't truly enjoy a movie coming at it from the mind of a critic. You must have the eyes of an artist.
>>
>>63323165
not either of those guys, and pretty much everyone's opinion seems to differ slightly on wes anderson's movies, but

Moonrise Kingdom > Darjeeling Limited > Royal Tenenbaums > Grand Budapest Hotel > Life Aquatic > Rushmore > Bottle Rocket = Fantastic Mr Fox
>>
>>63323014
I felt Darjeeling Limited was pretty weak. The second time I watched I enjoyed the brotherly love much more, but that's about it. It's rather forgettable.
>>
>>63321762

Life Aquatic is cool, but I wouldn't call it a "great movie"
>>
Jingle All The Way.

It's a better Christmas movie than Elf.

I've only seen Moonrise, GBH, Life Aquatic (which I watched today) and Fantastic Mr. Fox.

My favorite so far is probably a tie between Moonrise and GBH.
But I love all of them and wouldn't say one is better than the other, I just prefer those two.
>>
>>63324853
How could you hate the Caribbean steel drums, Ben Horne, and Arnie fighting Australian Danny Mcbride?
It's fucking phenomenal.

TTRL doesn't look interesting based on the synopsis? You don't like relationship dramas, war movies or period pieces then?

I forgot I saw Terminator, that movie was horrible.
But I love Commando as much I love Total Recall, Total Recall is much better written though.
I still need to watch The Running Man and Conan (the running time puts me off every time I go to watch it).

Period pieces are fine, as long as it takes place in the 1920's or later.
Relationship dramas? I don't know, none that I like come to mind.
And no war movies I like come to mind either.
The movie looks boring visually too.

The only legitimate problem with it were the shallow female characters.
