If you're reading, Just hear me out on this.
I think having the Time War in the background was a nice way to start the new series. It established some mystery in the Doctor's past, and helped to introduce concepts from the Classic series slowly rather than quickly. But.
Let's face it, Gallifrey couldn't possibly stay dead forever. Even the guy who blew it up couldn't resist bringing it back for some fireworks in The End of Time, and Moffat has done the same in The Day of the Doctor. Gallifrey was always going to return one day, and bringing it back for good is the only way the show can leave the whole Time War business behind its back. The concept of the Time War isn't serving any kind of purpose anymore, it's just this great big piece of continuity from ten years ago that's still casting its shadow on the show today, and the absence of Gallifrey and the Time Lords is now doing more to anchor the show to its past than their presence ever did in the Classic series.
If Gallifrey is back for good, the whole business can finally be wrapped up and left for Big Finish to explore further while the show moves on to new things.
Add to that the fact that we're hopefully going to see the last of River Song in the Christmas special and that the new companion is probably going to be a completely new character with no ongoing plot threads (the first one since Amy). Series 10 is shaping up to look like the first time Doctor Who can just move on with no past continuity to burden it since Rose.
And personally, I can't fucking wait for it. Please Moffat, bring back Gallifrey and give us a new start.

Ever since I read the review that said that the whole return to Gallifrey thing is left on a second plane for the second half of the episode, which focuses on the hybrid and Ashildr, I'm feeling it'll start out as GOAT, seemingly being what everyone wants it to be, then become some off the wall shit centered around the hybrid, Ashildr, technobabble and long dialogues between the Doctor and Ashildr about stuff they know but the audience doesn't. Then it'll end resolving the hybrid plot which was introduced a whole fucking episode before it, and leave gallifrey's fucking fate hanging once again.

He only remembers the final, successful, incarnation. All the others just...died. And he started without any of their memories, to him, he was always freshly arrived from London, with Clara just having died.
The weight of it all hits him hard enough for him to empathize with all the other Doctors that died before him, the monsterousness of it all, but he doesn't actually remember what they went through.
