You download a file that tells you computer how to download the actual movie, but you need a torrent client for that
I recommend deluge, just install it and download the torrent again

But for editing you could use: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects (AE is a deeper/more advanced program), Sony Vegas are ones I would recommend

Usually these edits leaves the riddles in the dark scene and the smaug/bilbo scenes completely alone. The chase/gold scene on the other hand, is usually one of the first to get cut.
