>Eckhart saw Hell too. He said: The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, he said. They're freeing your soul. So, if you're frightened of dying and... and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth.

>>63298064
I think it's subjective.

Stuff that actually gets me isn't always sad.

A Little Princess has one or two scenes. But that was a long time ago. Probably wouldn't affect me anymore.

Boromir's death actually works. The whole part at the end of Return of the King where he is crowned, and sings a bit. It's not sad in the story, really, but bittersweet still. Because the true glory and beauty of the past in that world is still gone forever.

I think often bittersweet actually works in movies and books for me, where pure sad usually just washes off me. Boo hoo, bah humbug.

Threadly reminder CIA got a "secret CIA file" on his character as marketing for the movie.

He is called Slade. Slade Wilson. YES.

CIA is Nolan's version of Deathstroke.

The plane sequence is the beginning of his story, as the plane crashes with one survivor, CIA, that loses an eye.

This is the beginning of Deathstroke, an expert assassin.

Look it up, I'm not making this up.

CIA is fucking Deathstroke

It's one of his best works. This was before he had the "Jack Nicholson" meme club that followed him in the 80s and 90s.

You sure you're on the right board? This is /tv/. Considering your shitty ability to know what a good film is, maybe you would be better off at /co/, worshipping capeshit.

>>
>Watching the end of The Road
>Viggo is dying, his son at his side
>Already have a lump in my throat, tears welling up

>Mind goes into grief overdrive and starts projecting thoughts of me and my Dad in that situation

this film just made me increasingly angry... and then really upset. his fucking dog....

when i was a kid the death scenes in disney movies never bothered me, but I would get really upset when there were scenes of characters getting wrongfully accused/punished for things that they didn't do.

like that scene in Lady and the Tramp where the Aunt muzzles Lady because she pins all the shit the stupid cats broke on her.

This movie brought me right back to that place lmao fuck i still haven't brought myself to watch it a second time.

nobody gives a shit how sophisticated your tear fodder is.

also, hasn't anyone ever told you that you can see through something as blatant emotional manipulation and still find it sad? knowing how it works doesn't change jack.

I cried at the ending of Late Spring and also at the scene in Pocahontas where she's singing about painting with the colors of the goddamn wind because I thought it was a beautiful song. I don't give a shit and I don't discriminate.

Pixar's emotional scenes do nothing for me because they're so fucking clearly there just to make you cry and for no other purpose in the plot.
There was no need for this character at all, let alone the need for his sacrifice. The saddest part of any pixar film was probably the flashback of Jessie being abandoned in Toy Story 2

Bing Bong was created to depict forgetfulness - an important part of growth. Yes, the characters do venture into Memory Dump and explore forgotten memories but seeing Bing Bong fade do makes the viewer deeply think about memories they've forgotten. If movies are seen to experience something then that part of Inside Out surely delivered it.
