Fill the frame with an interesting subject
Compose the shot well
Make sure the lighting is good
Use the ancient trick of a Frame within a frame
Find Shapes
Use Leading lines to guide the eye
Find colors or textures that are interesting
Natural locations and decay are always good
Use objects to divide even a wide shot into what feels intimate by having an object in the foreground focus the eye on one region
Play with shadows
Reflections
Shoot through Opaque or translucent materials like glass, water, smoke or silks.
Play with light
