Holy hell, one of those most taut thrillers I've ever seen. What did /tv/ think of this?
Also, have you read anything about plagues and outbreaks? How long until the next one endangers our species?
>>63266737
I loved it but friends hated it
>aka my mom and dad :^(
Hm probably this century, stick around long enough and you will see it
>>63266737
>How long until the next one endangers our species?
Not soon enough, really.
>>63266737
Great movie. Walked in blind & was blown away by it.
If you want to read a book discussing infectious diseases like said move, you should check Spillover.
>>63266737
Very good. Soderbergh's an excellent director, really excels at genre pictures.
>>63266737
MFW walmart had the bluray in the $7 bin and i'd never heard of it
>>63266859
>Spillover
Thanks for the recommendation. I also recommend The Coming Plague
>tfw Kate Winslet randomly dies 2/3s of the way through the movie
>>63267017
>randomly
What do you mean by this?
>>63267017
>randomly
>>63266950
I'll be sure to check that book out. I was running short on reading material & looking for suggestions.
>>63267017
>Gwyneth Paltrow does in the first 20 minutes
>>63267050
Typical Hollywood pandering to rednecks by killing the intellectual liberal.
>>63266737
As someone who works for the WHO, I was very surprised by how accurate this movie was.
>>63267043
>>63267045
>>63267050
Okay bad choice of word on my part. I just thought it was quite grim how she was ill (but fine) in one scene then it cuts to her being put in a body bag.
>>63266737
I saw it on TV one night, and I was surprised. I expected a boring Hollywood action-thriller based on the trailers, but got a good movie instead.
>everything bad happens because a shitskin didn't wash his hands and a woman cheated on her husband
So accurate it hurts
>>63267376
Oh it has keks in it? I am not going to watch it then
>>63266737
Bergh has been very hit and miss, he's had some fucking fantastic films, but a few seriously bad films like that one with Matt Damon. That was goddamn awful.
I hated this film when I saw it, though I recently rewatched it and thought it was fantastic. I liked Side Effects too
>describing thrillers as "taut"
Stop doing this
>>63266737
The filterization made the entire film look like ass.
>these scenes will be blue!
>these scenes will be yellow!
Shame that a film with otherwise decent storytelling and performances succumbed to the cancer killing cinema.
>>63267517
More taut than your mother's pussy, good sir.
>>63267552
which scenes were yellow, I didn't notice them
I noticed when I saw Traffic, that one was obvious.
True story: I went to italy in 2012 and this was the only movie I had on my phone for some reason. Watch it like 20 times. Good movie, love Fishburne and Jude Law's character. Matt Damon actually acting well. Kate Winslet looking bored as fuck in her performance, but I think that was her character.
>DUDE EVIL CONSERVATIVE CONSPIRACY THEORISTS
It's WHO vaccination propaganda
>>63268183
Jim Carrey pls
>>63268183
>See the local CVS is offering free vaccinations
>Walk past thinking nah, I won't need one, I don't get sick often
>Week later I get the worst flu I have had in years, it was the only time I had been sick in two or three years.
FUCKING
WHO?
>>63268183
Jude Law was meant to be conservative?
>>63268297
Jude Law was a crook and thief, I don't think he had a political agenda.
>>63266737
Jude Law's character ruined it.
Yeah I get that there are internet tinfoil junkies who would fuck up the situation like that but I don't actually need to see them distracting from what could've been a tighter story.
I would've rather they kept it more procedural. I didn't need a minor villain to remind me how shitty and opportunistic some people can be.

>DUDE TINFOIL BUZZWORD LMAO
Spotted the liberal SJW redditor with no real counter-arguments
>>63268354
That's what I was thinking.
>>63268359
I see your point, but thought it added an interesting and realistic sideplot. Cautionary tale for those easily lured by the Jenny McCarthy's of the world.
>tfw got a friend from middle school who is all grown up with a family now constantly posting anti-vac shit on Facebook
>>63268407
>counter-arguments
But you've presented no argument to counter, my good man.
>>63268407
>trying this hard
>>63266737
>not realizing that humans are the plague wiping out life on earth
>>63268419
It would be better just to show anti-vac types getting killed off early.
I don't need to see them callously watching their friends die or getting bailed out of jail just to send the point home that PEOPLE ARE SHIT.
Also lol at Paltrow's character revealed to be an adultress.
>>63268537
>judging a strong independent woman merely expressing her sexuality
I bet you wish husbands still owned their wives, don't you?
why does it have such low audience/imdb ratings?
>>63268790
I'm not sure, I was surprised by how much better it was than the ratings let on.
Perhaps due to Marion Cotillard's storyline and how it ends, and perhaps also Jude Law's.
I liked it a ton.
>>63268790
The ending. It just...ends. Which is what would happen with an epidemic, but people probably wanted to see a months worth of reactionary news stories.
>>63267431
Matt Damon is a kekkity kek
It's almost like none of you have seen a single film from the 70's.
Oh yeah, you probably haven't.
>>63269581
I'm watching Paper Moon right now. What's your point?
>>63269602
That is the quintessential decade of thrillers.
mother nature is a bitch. It will hit the reset button sooner or later.
>>63269657
Neat. They still make a good one once in awhile, grandpa.
>>63266737
boooorrriiiinnnngggg
>>63266737
One reviewer, can't remember who, said the movie felt like an after-the-fact dramatization of something that really happened. I agree. Brutal, true feeling, loved it.
>>63266737
Biofag here, this movie triggered me pretty hard tbqh familia.
>>63266737
This was the first movie I've seen where people walked out mid-movie. It was extremely boring
I saw this movie by chance while reading The Plague by Camus. Never actually finished the book cuz I got bored by the last quarter but there were a ton of interesting points of comparison between the ttw, and it made me appreciate the bluntness of the film even more.
>>63271364
Elaborate
>>63271499
>>63271289
You guys probably didn't like Zodiac either
>>63268183
>>63268370
moar pics like this
I went in thinking it would be much more exciting, but I still enjoyed it.
It's also probably the movie I've spoiled the plotlines of the most in stream chats, which is weird.
