You kill a show before it reaches its conclusion. You disband the team responsible for its entire creation. Then, for some fucking reason, you decide to finish the series. It's impossible to reassemble the team, which means that you most likely will not be able to recreate whatever made it great in the first place, because in the history of forever nobody has ever understood how to make something better than the original creators. The creators may not have known what made it great, but they DO know to keep doing whatever they were doing.

Whether you think the quality of plot or writing of western cartoons is better then anime isn't the real meat of the issue, the issue is that most western animation is garbage and the output is uninspired crap which all tends to copy eachother. I wish there were more divergences from this trend but they're few and far between. People will always point to song of the sea, secret of kell and a few others but its not enough.
One of the best things about animation is the ability to stretch reality and fantasy in ways just not possible in real life. Westerners will never get this though, for the most part.
