What a fucking good ass romance novel, all just to explain the crashed Star Destroyer on Jakku in the new movie's trailer.
That other novel, Aftermath, was terrible and as of right now pointless as fuck, made just to please SJWs.

You really have to be a bottom of the barrel degenerate, mouth breathing scumbag to read a Star Wars book.

Leave it to the EU to explain like a Star Destroyer crash, as if I couldn't figure out something like that happened on my own.

Lost Stars was beautiful OP. Masterfully written, with just the right amount of Star Wars-iness to make it not feel like it's pandering to fanboys. I also like how it humanized Imperial lackeys. Now when I watch the movies, I think of all those guys in the Star Destroyer bridge as guys following orders because they were good students at the Imperial Academy.

I play MTG and 40k, and even I think someone reading a Star Wars novel is a fucking loser

It's a fucking good book, it just happens to take place in the Star Wars universe.

The romance is excellently set up without taking away from the main plot. The two main characters grew up together and graduate from the Imperial academy. The guy is defects to the Rebellion, the girl is an Imperial officer. In spite of this, they fall in love. A few great cameos by minor movie characters.

It's kind of amazing/sad that the best Nu-Canon Star Wars book is basically a teen romance novel.
Amazing because Lost Stars is actually pretty good for said genre and I'm terribly pleased Claudia Gray is already lined up for more books.
Sad because, like OP said, Aftermath sucks balls and for some reason Disney still wants Chuck Wendig to pump out two more sequels. We can only pray they never give him anything further. I'm astounded this man had fans before Aftermath dropped.
How can you love Star wars so much that you actually want to read a spin-off book?
This isn't like Tolkien and all his autistic unfinished letters. I can see that people still want to read them, but this Star wars crap? Why read it? I don't get it.
Who is Claudia Gray, btw?

>Who is Claudia Gray, btw?
The only Nu-EU author who knows how to write a goddamn Star Wars book right, apparently.
It's not really hard to understand (unless you're retarded or something). If you like Star Wars and want more of it, that's exactly what the comics and books are for. Sadly, Disney seems more interested in maintaining a non-contradictory universe than actually quality-checking the books. Or hiring competent authors. I mean they hired Chuck Wendig because he begged them to over Twitter. It's fucking sad.
