They're different so its hard to compare. I'm the biggest breaking bad fanboy, but season 1 of Fargo is truly wonderful. Billy Bob steals the show every scene he's in. One of the best roles I've seen him in recent times. Its a different atmosphere and feeling than breaking bad, but still has that dark humor probably even more so. Some great ... not really cameos, but actors you wouldn't expect playing roles you wouldn't expect. For example Dennis from its always sunny plays this tennis coach (I think, been awhile) who's banging some dudes wife. Season two is probably closer to the likeness of brba with the gang warfare and the muh territory now stuff. Highly recommend.

He was a wanted man, the haircut was partially about changing his appearance so he wouldn't get noticed as easily, and was also symbolic for how he wanted to leave that life. What was the alternative? Kill Ed and Peggy, bring Dodd back, then Kansas City kills them all? He wanted out, because he knew the family was collapsing and he didn't want to die fighting a losing battle against Kansas City.

Virtually none except for the fact that the characters are cops investigating a conspiracy. The setting of California had nowhere near the Gothic vibes that rural Louisiana did and I feel that ever present sense of something lurking deep in those woods really hurt season 2. Season 2 takes a much more realistic approach in the way it handles things and forgoes all the Lovecraftian shit entirely.
