South park does a really good job of poking fun at current trends in society no matter what the trend is, and to make the implication that change is always a good thing is just as bad as saying change is always a bad thing.
They also can stay current, and i think its because they keep the show relatively simple to produce they are able to react to big events and trends a couple weeks before other shows can.

The PoCs came out on their own as a reaction to the "Gamergate is composed of white supremacists".
