I've thought about this, and my guess is that Opie uses all that hate to gather energy and drive. Even though he was the one that got them, industry-wise, to a point where their talent could make them big (Ant was an outsider and happy to be there, had he hooked up with Howard he'd been a sidekick for the longest time), he's always been consider unfunny and all in all suckie. So instead of letting people's opinions get to him to a point where you lose focus of what you want, he uses that,because in the end he has become famous and made a lot of money from it, and turns it into drive and motivation.

Anthony was great on O&A, but on his own he is terrible. It was a formula that doesn't really work separate.
