I wasn't on board with this at first, but I'm beginning to come around to it. The problem is, we would need very strict moderation. Shitposting etc. would follow very quickly if we didn't shut it down and ban those that bring it over. I don't think the criteria to post on /bane/ should be based on "patrician" merit, because that eliminates those who wish to become more knowledgeable in baneposting and cause an echo chamber of the same group who thinks each is the most distinguished. Rather, to post on /bane/ you should have to be willing to DISCUSS about big guys. No batman, no hotheads. You can say Smee is the best character of all time, as long as you have things to back that claim up. Likewise, the thread cant be filled with "quality discussion' and "solid arguments". If you disagree, simply present your own thesis and defend it.
The issue with /tv/ isn't the lack of patricians, but the lack of bane. There's a place for sheevposting, waifus, and other memes, and they're all fine and dandy on their own, but there should also be a place to have legitimate discussions about plane scenes.

The thing is, baneposting has already devolved to something close to this as "FOR YOU" / "The fire rises" etc. have lost their context and turned into meaningless meme catchphrases. Once baneposting spread to the likes of /v/, people forgot that "BRAVO NOLAN" etc were actually sarcastic and nowadays I'm sure there are plenty of baneposters who unironically like the Dark Knight Rises, and don't understand that their favourite maymay was meant to mock its less than stellar script.

I have never watched The Dark Knight Rises in its entirety cause I hate Nolan and I hate capeshit, but I have seen the plane scene and other referenced scenes to understand what baneposting is mocking, and I think that's what makes it so funny. Because seriously, how would any Hollywood director let that slip, especially in an opening scene no less.
