What do you think?
>>63204192
I'd argue Ozymandias was an Elder God Tier villain. Although I guess he also falls under great tier
>>63204192
Elder god tier just describes an antagonist that's mislabeled as a villain.
>>63204192
0/10
Shit bait, shit tiers, you don't understand villainy either. Pretty much awful, but hey, it's /tv/.
>>63204192
Isn't Gordo elder God if u think about it
>>63204243
Rorschach was supposed to be the villain.
>tywin

Alienate one of your sons just cause he's dwarf, when in fact shows great intellect.
>DR joker
>meh tier
He had a motive, to show that people where facades of "muh virtues self"
>>63204192
The fact you are trying to earnest discuss villains with the adjective "evil" speaks to how pleb you truly are.
>>63204192
motivations of a villain have absolutely nothing to do with their quality or effectiveness
hitler was in the last one of these i saw
it was a better pic use that one instead
>>63204192
>wanting power is evil
>wanting to accumulate power to shape the world as you see fit is evil

Literally backwards.
Mustache twirling villains who know they're bad people and just decide to have fun with it are GOAT.
Angsty keks pretending to be "complex" are for edgy teens and euphoric manchildren tipping their trilbys in excitement that someone finally "gets them."
Shit list OP you should feel pretty bad about it.
>sheev in shit tier
>>63204192
makes sense. I remember every 1980s cartoon had a bad guy who literally knew he was on the side of evil. that shit doesn't fly once you hit 12 years old.
>>63204192
Robert Redford above Hannibal?
What the fuck
>>63204192
Sheev is god tier. Plus Lecter only did evil in Silence of the Lambs to escape jail, then is implied to do evil again as revenge. He's high tier according to this shit list.
>people shit talking sheev
>>63204305
>Plebs actually believe this
>>63204924
Palpatine is shit tier. When you really think of it, you never really know what he wants in the OT aside from "we will finally know peace". he doesn't have any motive other than getting rid of that annoying rebellion. Vader was the main villain and the only one we really needed in terms of plot (though not in terms of character devlopment).
Sheev is god-tier without a single hesitation.
>>63204337
this one?
Without b8, what actually DOES make a good villain? Is simply being interesting enough?
>>63205004
>Palpatine is shit tier
>Sheev is god-tier
Nigga, whut
>>63205004
Palpatine is suppose to be a pure evil, only wants power. That's his goal. It doesn't need to be complex. And when you think about, he's literally the best part of the prequels.
>>63205086
Being interesting, that's literally it
>>63205108
He wanted peace and order though.
>>63205086
There are no rules, it's entirely the execution of their character in whatever movie/book/etc they're in. Sometimes complex and understandable villains are great, but sometimes those pure evil classical villains are just as great.
>>63204192
Is the 2nd top left image the dude from The Rock? I definitely felt sympathetic towards them and felt they deserved to have the demands answered.
>>63205059
What are the emperor's supposed elder god tier motives?
I'm not a Star Wars nerd so I don't remember why he tried to seize the senate or whatever gay ass shit he did in the prequels.
>>63205174
That's just the bullshit he tells Anakin.
>>63205202
He was just fun to watch
>>63205098
alright
>OT Palpatine : spoopy evil dude we know little about who just is the master of the world and wants to stay that way by blowing up planets and killing poor, brave rebels
>Prequel Palpatine : tries to rebuild a dysfunctionnal system that is too busy fapping at it's own self-righteousness, but ends up eaten by his own ambition
The prequels did a very good job making Palpatine a better character. he was bad in the OT, the prequels explained him a lot.
I'm a 14 year old: the taste: the picture
>>63205202
The reason he's Elder God tier is because he did what he did purely for the keks
>>63205202
he took a crumbling republic controlled by disgusting alien races and turned it into an aryan empire
>>63204989
what was this over? did that guy suggest removing jar jar?
>>63205299

>>63205202
Palpatine was building WMDs to stop the yuuzhan vong, extra-galactic beings that essentially fuck the EU for the next hundred years after his passing
>>63205468
>EU
no one cares about that garbage you silly manchild
>Roy Batty
>villain
The entire point of that final scene was the reveal that Deckard was closer to a villain since he was hunting a guy just because it was his job. Batty wasn't even a "real" human yet he had more humanity in his short, artificial life. It was a pretty cool role reversal plot twist.

Adolf Hitler
>>63204305
>>63204243

There are no heroes and villains in watchmen, that is the entire point of the story. Almost every character is trying to do good in their own equally vain ways. Except maybe the comedian who is just a bit of a dick.
>>63205202
He basically presided over a massive centralisation of power and military build-up which he felt was necessary because he knew the galaxy was about to be invaded by an extra-galactic alien armada

>>63204398
Hollywood jews tell people this so that anything other then their "freedom and democracy" is evil.
>>63205202
He was uniting the galaxy to defend against the yuuzhan vong, who fucked the new republic in his absence.
>>63205564
>Except maybe the comedian
Nah.
he does what is good for him.
And what's good for him is what gets a giggle ot of his drunken mouth,or makes his dick hard.
He is completely selfish, so what matters is what he sees as good, and that pretty much encompasses his distraction and nothing else.
>>63204192
>that fucking chart
Guy from The Rock belongs under High Tier since he's pissed off over nobody caring about his marines getting killed.
Khan was a fucking asshole who wanted to rule the galaxy just because and his "revenge" against Kirk was because Kirk gave him the choice of marooning or execution, and he chose to be marooned. He wasn't justified in anything at all.
>Meh Tier
Joker and Hannibal are both nutcases that get off on getting under people's skin/fucking with society. I don't recognize the dino, but if it's just some dino I think it goes under Mid Tier.
Voldemort kinda belongs under High, he wants to make a world without muggles because he thinks they are inferior.
Sidious depends upon if you are taking EU into account: if you are, he's Elder God. If not, Shit.
>>63205743
Making an edit just because this post was so convincing
>>63205743
>Sidious with OT : shit, moustche twirling villain
>Sidious with Prequels and OT : machiavellian but with good intentions. Loses it a bit by the end.
>Sidious with EU : actually the good guy all along.
>>63204315
It wasn't just because he was a dwarf anon. It was also because Joanna died in childbirth, which was considered a bad omen, and also because Tyrion was always sort of a rebel. Also becausemaybe Tywin knew Arys raped Joanna and figured Tyrion wasn't his anyways but since he can't prove that due to Men's Laws he was stuck with him.
>>63205528
He murdered multiple people....pretty sure that makes him a villain no matter how tragic
Inb4 "deckard murdered people!"
Deckard would always retaliate with killing after he had his shit slapped up and the replicant was going apeshit/running away
>>63205743
What do you think?
Hannibal Lecter should be in great tier
>>63205936
That's false. He just put all his effort into creating the appearance of being the baddest dude there ever was. The irony is that he pushed away the son who was ugly on the outside but good on the inside, and kept the twins who were good on the outside but rotten on the inside.
>>63206204
Explain the difference between EU and movie palpatine
hummel and batty weren't villains though. antagonists, maybe, but not villains.
>>63204192
>Redford
How the fuck does he even fit in that category? What 'wrong' was done for him to avenge or whatever?
>>63206725
worst bait i've ever scene.
>>63206621
EU: He created the Empire to make an army strong enough to fight off an impending hostile invasion by asshole aliens from outside the Galaxy.
Movies: I'm evil lol.
>>63206204
Can't find a fault.
>>63206637
This is also correct, Batty only fought in self defense. That's why the "Tears in Rain" scene has such a big impact: Deckard spends the whole film hunting this rogue android because "he's rogue and needs to be stopped" only to discover Batty just wanted to spend his short lifespan enjoying life and being left alone. When Batty is near death, he saves Deckard from falling off a ledge and then tells him about the beautiful things he's seen before dying.
>>63206204

>Batty only fought in self defense.
Ah yes, I often kill people in self defense by gouging their eyes out after kissing them.
General Hummel is based as fuck.
What is the difference between villains who are obeying their nature and villains who are evil for the sake of evil?
>>63204192
Easily the worst list I've ever seen posted here, for any subject.
>>63204192
Sheev was motivated to destroy the Jedi and bring order to the galaxy. He literally did nothing wrong.
>>63204192
Where would malvo (Billy Bob thornton) from the fargo series belong? That dude is psychotic and fucking evil yet seems to still have an interest in cash money
>>63206204
High tier describes two different things though. Voldy, for instance, is an ideologue, but not because of any actual wrong perpetrated against him.
>>63206905
>palpatineable.
laughed harder than I should have.
>>63206940
Obeying their nature: doing things that are part of their life cycle/necessary for that species, ie. the Xenomorphs infecting hosts to reproduce.
Evil for the sake of evil: gerenally a sentient human or humanoid villain, with motives that usually just hinge on a baser emotion like greed, sadism, or the played-out lust for power, sometimes with no attempt made to show that the villain even believes what they are doing is "right" in some way.
>>63205286
Why does everyone here insist on calling Palpatine "Sheev"? I get that's his name but this is the only place ever that calls him Sheev.
>>63207424
Its easier to meme.
walter white was the villain
>>63204192
Joff wasn't "just evil".
Joff was a child. He's a 14 year old kid with a shitty mother and a neglectful 'father' and constant rumours of bastardry who is suddenly given absolute power.
Why the fuck do you think would happen?
Would you give an angsty teen with a fucked up home life the keys to a dictatorship?

>>63208540
Mid Tier. He's a program.
>>63208540
Mid with a hint of high.
Mid in that he was doing exactly what he was programmed to do, but also high because holy fuck did he have a hardon against Flynn.
>>63208596
Elder God Tier?
>>63208666
He's so fucking chameleonic.
>>63208596
I think he was just misunderstood, as much as he misunderstood Flynn. Watching the ending sequence again with their little banter back and forth. Imagine you now vs yourself in the past. Shit always gets to me.
>>63208683
Yeah, he looks Arab in that movie.
>>63208666
Nah, his headgames with Caleb, paired with fucking his failed attempts and taking credit for things Caleb proposed, even while talking to him, strongly suggested megalomania.
His test was only effective in ensuring a manipulative machine that would be good for espionage. It wouldn't pass the Turing test.
In fact his latest model failed the Turing test on session 1. It had no concept of time.
>>63208712
I saw that too. It was a damned effective way to go about the difference between a constantly changing human being and an unchanging program.
Legacy was underrated as fuck.

Nigger this better be bait, Light was a brat. Only edgy teenagers like him because they think they relate.
And Zod never lusted for power, he tried to save his world, and its legacy. He tried to rise to power because the previous rulers drove it to death.
>>63209472
I don't think it quite matched up astronomy-wise
Also he had some heavy as fuck beef with Jor-El, and was taking it out on his son. He didn't necessarily have to kill Jor-El, but he wanted to.

Anon you fucked up so bad it hurts.
the rush hour villain is the only elder god tier villain i can think of. his art collection was stolen by the chinese government and he just wanted it back. he had spent his entire life collecting them and spent millions of dollars on his collection
also lmao at all these plebs thinking tywin, le 20 good men and geoffry are villains. they are clearly the good goys
Yeah I stand on my decisions. Light is the ultimate villain because he is a genius BRAT who thinks he is the the smartest around.
HAl 9000 is trying to stop humans from their final evolution if you read the novel you get it.
The Joker is only obeying his nature which is insanity and having fun with batman.
you are a moron. there is no way tywin is just evil because muh circumstances. shit tier shouldn't even be about power, but - I'm evil just because, that's why
>>63207705
looks like someone got deceived
Event though the pic is shit tier bait, I'm curious to see where /tv/ would put Death from the Final Destination movies in this?
>>63209931
Death is necessary for the balance of the world. It's not really a villain so much as a force of nature.
>>63209674
You're an idiot. Light may be a huge villain, but he's still shit tier based on the chart.
Good as you think he is, he does not fit the "Villains whose motives are hard to find fault in and arguably better than the hero's" category.
You said yourself that he's absolutely at fault because he's a spoiled brat who thinks he's smarter than everyone. You agree, therefore, that he fits "Villains who are just evil or lust for power."
Even his place in High tier is inaccurate. He's not retaliating against any personal misdeed on his person. Shit tier villains also seek to change society as a whole. It fits the "lust for power" bit.
patrician version incoming
>>63209674
I've read the novel and HAL was absolutely acting under its programming. It hit a conflict where it had to give the crew 100% accurate mission updates while simultaneously hide the reality of the mission itself.
As a result of the conflict HAL reasoned that if the crew was deceased it could carry out the mission while still obeying the protocol that required it to tell the truth.
That's midtier to its core. It was following conflicting protocols in the only way it logically could.
