To extract the information he holds about the hybrid. Do try to keep up.
>>
>>63187469
i'd like a season kind of like the break at the end of series 4 where it was a bunch of Doctor-solo episodes until the finale. make them all 2 or 3 parters, have the Doctor meet new people each time but have it link together, maybe kind of like they did with the space station in series 1.
>>
>>63187469
Companions are fine, its when they get episodes and entire stories devoted to them and their love interests that things are pretty weak.

>Oh companion I don't know at all what to do, help me with your sage advice I'd be lost without!
>>
>>63187516
>>63187071
I'll be concise
ending the drama of the Time War and setting up the return of gallifrey - good

having the doctors undo a moment that gave him great pathos - shitty

so really it would been better if they established that someone or something saved Gallifrey, other than the Doctor.
>>
So it's accepted that the Time War has retroactively been made pointless right? Having the Daleks return all the time obviously kinda made the Doctors actions seem pointless, although that kinda added to his character since he had to live with the fact he killed his entire species and still failed.

But now the Time Lords are alive that just means that the only victims were every other species that accidentally got in the way.

i'm not so sure you can say it was undone as much, he still lived hundreds of years of his life as though it happened. the emotional scars from it are still there, as we can see from him smashing the TARDIS console after Missy lies to him about knowing where Gallifrey is. also assuming we aren't being Moffed the Doctor is going to go NUCLEAR on Gallifrey in a few days anyway.
>>

>>
>>63187651
>assuming we aren't being Moffed
>>
Why are Davros, the Time Lords and the Doctor suddenly so obsessed with this hybrid shit?

Sure, there's a legend, but there's been one for presumably thousands or millions of years and no one was obsessed. Suddenly Davros gets the Daleks to agree to it, somehow, but that fails cause old Daleks somehow wipe all of the hybrids out, the Doctor starts seeing hybrids everywhere as if there's some buildup or part of the prophecy heralding that it's gonna happen or appear soon even though there isn't, and the Time Lords torture the Doctor for 4 and a half billion years, to get information about it from the Doctor, again, despite no time pressure or anything pointing out that it's coming and obviously only Davros doing anything to intentionally bring it about, but the Time Lords wouldn't need the Doctor to know about that after TMA/TWF

Two of those episodes work because they are exceptions that focus on showing the Doctor face a problem on his own in a season which otherwise features a companion. If companion-less became the norm, the episodes wouldn't be so original. Waters of Mars just happens to be one great episode in a run of five, which is not so different from Who's usual hit rate.
I would like to see each Doctor on his own for a handful of episodes (like the S4 specials), or even half a season, but no more than that. Having new companions helps to keep the show fresh.

time travelers have time streams removed from the natural order of things, they experience things out of sync and sometimes experience things that never happened to everyone else. but for them, it did because they remember it. they had to weigh the choices and live with the decisions they made.

>"Time can be rewritten"
>"Except fixed points"
>"Wait actually fixed points can be changed as well"

Giving Time Travel rules rarely works.

Also the whole "Time Lock" concept is rightfully never expanded upon because it'd be such a can-of-worms to do so.
>>
>>63187984
Can someone explain what the fuck a "fixed point" even means? Does it mean anything at all?
>>
>>63187984
i always assumed it wasn't like the Doctor or someone else put a "time lock" device on it, just that that period of time was so completely fucked off time travel wouldn't be possible, your machine would be fucked or not know how to access it, etc. just due to all the interference from both sides of the conflict time traveling and re-writing history constantly. that or it was so bad that any alteration of events could lead to catastrophic destruction everywhere else and that for better or worse that version of events was in a sort of equilibrium, the damage was done but it's contained.
>>
>>63188031
Well its supposed to be any event that cant change. Like, even if you try to prevent it, it will manage to happen anyway. And if you try really fucking hard and manage to change it, it SHOULD have... catastrophic consequences?
>>
>>63188031
the X-Men movie explained it kind of well, fixed point events are like rivers in time. you can throw a rock to divert the stream but it'll eventually correct itself unless you do something really drastic, which could be even worse than what was originally going to happen.

>>63187771
I seriously wondered if they'd done this while watching the episode, glad it actually happened, it's a neat detail.
>>
>>63189314
In the movie we hear 7 say explicitly, "I am not human, I am not like you." All that we know aside from the Doctors playful joke to steal a security badge, is that his eyes are human or resemble those of a human. The Master has seen his eyes plenty of times, he's never said anything prior. We can assume it was only his new body that had that trait, and we really don't know why he regenerated that way. He says he took to long to regenerate, maybe it's because he was frozen, maybe it had to do with how he died or the fact they were using human blood during his transfusion on the operating table.

>>63189314
>the Eighth Doctor is not joking or lying
The only time he says it is when he was stealing something from a guy, and he says it in a joking manner. the doctor seems to be aware his eyes are human this time, saying he's "half human on his mother's side" is a playful way to show he understands his new body while confusing the fuck out of someone he needs to take something from.

Was RTD a gay racist?
>>
>>63189802
A gaycist?
>>
does anybody have any idea why didn't the room where 12 put his wet coat resetted every day in the last episode? Or is it because Moffat always leaves mistakes?
>>
>>63189802
Didn't RTD also write that CBBC show with the magicians where the black sidekick was randomly revealed as gay for no reason
>>
>>63189802
>“Actually I did try:

>Donna: It’s like Ten Little -

>The Doctor: Niggles aside, let’s look in the library.

>But I though it was too risky, so cut it.” - On the possibility of name dropping 'Ten Little N*****s’ in 'The Unicorn and the Wasp’.

>“It doesn’t matter how many times you say that they’re from the planet Sto; its the pictures that matter, and this looks like a bunch of humans partying. I suggested that everyone wears bindis. It’s the only thing I could think of” - RTD on how to make the humanoid characters look more 'alien’
>>
>>63189828
He did that because he was planning to have Luke come out as gay before SJA was cut short, CBBC requested him to introduce a gay character.
>>
>>63189827
And why didn't his skull and writing of Bird reset?
>>
>>63189827
Things don't get reset whilst the veil is frozen which is why the chalk also stayed on the floor , 12's skull didn't vanish and the birdwall didn't grow back..
>>

Probably something like a room only resets if that same Doctor returns to the room later

12 regenerates in ep12 after being shot by firing squad.
clara appears in a tardis and picks him up.
she and the rebels stop the regeneration mid way with timelord tech. the doctor splits in two. a valeyard.
>>
>>63189784
They were supposed to be in Children of Earth (Them leaving the TARDIS with Jack was meant to lead into them joining Torchwood) but Freema chose Law and Order UK instead and they didn't want just Mickey so they scrapped it.

I imagine that would have established more of a relationship between them, but RTD still wanted to wrap all his characters in a nice bow before giving Moff the reigns.

While talking to doctors about to perform surgery on him. He has two hearts and a significantly different physiology. Of course he's going to say he's not human, he's madly trying to get them not to operate because of body's structure.

the ending shot of Hell Bent is probably the Doctor in the diner with the Clara splinter, not Clara Prime
>>
>>63189982
When he sees the crystal wall, he puts it together with the word "bird", thinks of the fable, and instantly realises what's going on. But his response isn't "I know what's going on", it's "I can remember it all. Every time."

When he pours his body's energy into the new body, the memories go with it, remaining in his subconscious. It's all one Doctor, forgetting his suffering billions of times, only to remember it at the last moment each cycle.
