How to defeat Kilgrave

>Step 1: Wear earplugs
>>
>>63176936
Ear plugs don't block out sound well enough but I get your point. Seems easily beaten if you know what he can do like EVERY protagonist on the show did.
>>
>>63176936

Last episode trish was wearing headphones with music blasting when they were setting him up.
>>
>>63177006
Was Trish the most rapable on the show, or the girl who killed herself in the bar?
>>
Would hiring a deaf assassin had worked?

I'm sure Simpson could have found some deaf assassin with his merc ties
>>
>>63177025
*rapeable
>>
>>63176936

First rule of Kilgrave is he doesn't do his own dirty work. It doesn't matter if you somehow protect yourself from him, because he can still manipulate everyone around you, make them into spies or assassins.
>>
>>63177242
>first rule of Kilgrave
Tyler Durden ladies and gentlemen!
>>
>>63176936
The first step is actually "Want to Kill Kilgrave". Jessica spent the entire fucking season not shooting the limey fuck in order to protect Hope, who died anyway along with a dozen others who could have been saved by one well-placed bullet.
>>
>>63177295
XDDDD
>>
>>63177031
Daredevil is somehow immune to the comic book version of Kilgrave because he's blind, which is fucking retarded just like everything about Daredevil's powers.

Come to think of it, why was Jessica immune in the first place? Did they ever explain that, or was it just supposed to be she built up a tolerance/superpower bullshit? That was probably the worst part of the season. Main character just happens to be immune to the antagonist's power.
>>
>>63177295
>>63177328
Both of you rob a liquor store, bring me the money then kill yourselves.
>>
>>63177365
on the tv show it was explained that jessica felt so bad for killing reva that she broke free of kilgrave's powers
>>
>>63177365
She does have advanced healing powers
>>
>>63177365

Yeah it's probably just will power. He makes her do stuff she doesn't really want to do but making her kill is the last straw. It was so traumatic for her that it snapped her out of it. Luke could probably build a tolerance too if he had more exposure. He did resist for a few seconds and told Jessica to shoot him.
>>
how retarded is killgrave? like seriously. I haven't watched the show, but just based on what I think his powers are (correct me if im wrong, he can basically mind control people because he secretes some super chemicals or something and they do what he says), how fucking retarded do you have to be to get caught? you have to do something audacious as shit to draw attention to yourself

all you have to do

>always where sunglasses and a hood/hat when suggesting illegal tasks to people
>wear demure non identifiable clothing when doing this
>force people to commit crimes that either arent incredibly illegal or arent noticeable
>spread out your crimes across a wide area rather than doing only a few big crimes
>never ever get caught
>>
>>63177421
Was that really the explaination? That doesn't make any sense. Hope should have been immune too, as well as most of the people that survived him the first time they were used.

What's Step 2?
>>
>>63177443
He was a narcissistic sociopath who didn't always make logical choices. Basically, he discovers the super-powerful main character is immune to him, and that fascinates him, so he makes it his goal to force her to submit to his will in a roundabout way. Meaning he spent a lot of his time with the one person who could easily kill him.
>>
>>63177464
Crashing this plane, with no survivors!
>>
>>63176975
If you can't understand the order, you are not bound by it. All they need is noise canceling headphones and a mic feed into it so they can still hear. Killgrave kill.
>>
>>63177571
He emits a virus or some shit, so I think you're compelled to follow his orders if you're in his vicinity and you can understand what he wants you to do. I don't think putting rerouting his voice through a microphone would work if you're still near him, and it definitely wouldn't work after his powerup.

It was worth a try, though. I hated how Trish talked about wanting to understand the rules for his power in one of the first episodes, and Jessica immediately shot that down.
>>
Updated list of ways to easily kill Kilgrave

>Option 1: Wear earplugs
>Option 2: Hire deaf assassin
>Option 3: Hire assassin that doesn't understand English
>Option 4: Literally yell over him while stabbing him to death
>>
>>63177634
The problem is that he would typically have a bunch of innocent people under his control compelled to kill you/themselves if you try any of that. They shot down the sniper option too quickly.
>>
>>63177443
He never did get caught before Jessica started hounding him. Also a big part of his character is how he's basically the kid that always got what he wanted and never had to pay for it, so he's sort of naive in that regard.
>>
>>63177504
And he never truely grew up, he acts like a child does but has the urges of a man.
>>
Did the anesthesia stop his power, or not? Jessica knocks him out with it when they're in her old house, but then the neighbor lady blows herself up while he's still down.
>>
Mindcontrol is just incredibly hard to write around.
They did a good job with making him seem dangerous when he called in on trish' show after she insulted him. How paranoid she was, everyone could be out to get her, when simpson was at the door and you dont know if he is just a police man doing his job or a killer.
To give a mind controller screen time, make him seem dangerous and eventually have him get beaten by something that isnt LOLIMMUNITY and do all that for an entire season just seems incredibly hard.
And i wouldnt expect it from a comic book author, nor would i expect it from based on a comic show writers.
>>
>>63176936
Do you really watch this show
>>
>>63177025

Trist. So hot.
>>
>>63177780
All it does is immobilize him. The virus still lasts until it wears off.
>>
>>63177933
Then why was the anesthesia such a big deal? They discussed how it turned off different portions of his brain than sleeping did, and Jessica acted like that was a big discovery and it made anesthetic his big weakness.

>Jessica Jones
this place is truly fucking dead
>>
>>63177966
Anything already planted lasts for 8 hours while he's under, he can't issue any commands.
>>
>>63178508
That negates the whole scene where she discovers he refused anesthesia after the bus crash. If it just keeps him from issuing new orders, that's completely obvious and she shouldn't have needed to discover anything to figure that out.
>>
>>63177307
Having Hope kill herself was such a cop-out by the writers. Especially considering the series was at least three episodes too long, and really dragged towards the end. Felt real uncreative and lazy, probably because they simply weren't creative enough to come up with a scenario where Jessica captures Killgrave alive and clears Hope's name.
Though I'm hoping Killgrave actually is alive and tricked everyone on that pier, including Jessica with his juiced up powers, to think she killed him so he could escape and lay low for a while
>>
>>63177463
Jessica had been exposed to his viral infection longer in order to build up tolerance, and also has superhuman metabolism to go with that strength, so once could hazard a guess her immune system is stronger than that of the average human. It was also shown that she was actively fighting him before he forced her to murder, the shock was just the final straw she needed.
>>
>>63178842
I find it hard to believe he's permanently dead. The first season was entirely Kilgrave-centric. It was almost more about him than it was about Jessica. I don't even know what this show is about without Kilgrave

next season should be a flashback entirely about killgrave controlling jessica for 8 months
>>
>>63176936
Thing is you dont know if he told a room full of people to kill themselves if he didn't come back
>>
>>63178916
That's not entirely bullshit, but the show needed to give a convincing explanation for why the main character and only the main character is immune to the antagonist's powers.
>>
>>63177365
Daredevil doesen't have power in the comics, the radar sense has been retconned as just an extra sense that anyone could develop under the right training.
Makes even less sense that he'd be immune to the purple man since his powers work with pheromones in the comics but whatever
>>
>>63176936
Kim Possible was smart enough to figure that out.
>>
Trish is Hellcat. Who is Will Simpson suppose to be?
>>
>>63178976
I don't think she's the only character in the Marvelverse to be immune. In fact, those of strong will or metabolism seem to be able to fight him off in the comics. I think Kingpin and even Daredevil would have had an easier time than Jessica, especially if they knew what they were up against. It's just that this show focuses on Jessica specifically, and how she was caught unaware by him like most of his victims.

>>

It's a dumb point as far as the show is concerned. It doesn't exist in the same universe as the comic books and shouldn't require knowledge of them to make sense.

Pre-powerup they cover a few times that his power doesn't work via microphone. That's why he's trapped in the box

Post powerup it works by range and understanding what he was saying.

>Thinking death matters in capeshit

Reading X-Men in the 90s, a popular character died or seemed to die every other issue, only to be brought back a couple of issues later. It's a lot like soap that way.
>>
>>63179146
Its really not fair that time and time again lex luthor and doom get ruined in live action. Just make them the nigh omnipotent geniusesthat are defeated in the end by their own arrogance like in the comics and tv shows. People love badass villians not fuggtha police edgelords like the clown the got for the trank film and mark Zuckerberg
>>
>>63176936
Killgrave's danger comes from people NOT knowing who he is and how he works. That's why he always went to extremes to keep a low profile and kill anyone he was around for extended periods.

His real danger is the fact that anyone could be under his control. And that innocents WILL die if he can't control you directly.
>>
>>63179193
The key being that people are exposed to his virus when he does it. Post upgrade he just needed to be in the same air ventilated building. Still wouldn't work in that sealed box or if he was halfway across town.
>>
>>63179146
doom is so fucking based
>>
>>63179204
MCU has only unkilled Coulson as far as I can remember, and that was only to give him a spinoff
>>
>>63179193
The box protects his would-be victims from the virus, that's why it needs to be hermetically sealed. Rerouting his voice through a mic wouldn't do that.
>>
>>63177421
so her special powers is feelings.

Shoot him in the back before he gets a chance to open his mouth. Not exactly hard. I have when shows keep the villian alive for retarded reasons instead of just killing him when they have the chance.

The show really tiptoed around the fucked up sex and power play/rape stuff he does with his victims in the comic. This SJW era must really have made them overly conscious of them trigger warnings. Seemed to have ramped up the violence instead, which seems to be the American way. Still, liked that he was usually not that directly violent, just didn't care how people ended up when he left them after toying with them.

It's a pity we'll never get this scene
>>
>>63179249
>>63179325

That's purely speculation on your part.
The only facts we know from the show is that pre-powerup he couldn't control via microphone. And post powerup it was purely proximity.

It could be a dormant virus that he spreads over wide areas (miles) that only activates with his specific vocal frequency that are for some reason filtered via a microphone. (post power up it could be the range of his virus audio frequency is opened up and microphones are now inside that frequency range)

Who knows.

In fact, our speculation is directly contrary to the whole point. They specifically only feed you enough information to keep you happy. Anything else is kept unsaid so as not to destroy the reality that his power doesn't work in our real world.
>>
>>63179423
He controlled people through telephone and PA in the hospital
>>
>>63179423
I'm not speculating, they specifically mentioned an increased radius with the upgrade when he was talking to his father, not increased dormancy or that he could infect people over the phone. And remember, he was physically at the hospital when he commanded those people.
>>
>>63179435
>>63179476
Wasn't the hospital post-powerup?
Luke cage telephone dose certainly was When they said his power was based upon proximity at that point.

Pre-powerup they say he can't control via microphone. That's why the box works. They say this when Hellcat is baiting him on the radio and Jessica is listening.

I'm just saying you can use any real world logic head-canon you want. But the intentionally never outlined exactly how his power changed because putting too much science into it will break the magic.
All you need is "mind control virus", "doesn't work via mic", "powerup", "now works over mic". and let the viewer fill in the rest.

Being blacked bless you with many super powers, from self-empowerment, sexual liberty to resistance to the white art (white stands for white men), all of which help against Kilgrave's power.
>>
>>63179573
Because the box was sealed. No air out. So nobody would have done anything he commanded, unless instructed before he went in. Hospital, there were vents everywhere for people to breathe in his command microbes or whatever when he told them to. And that's what he and his dad talked about pre powerup, increased range. Infecting further away. Trough phones and comm systems even, but he'd still have to be close by. Hell, they even discuss it as "infect a whole building" and not "Infect trough his voice alone".
>>
