Anon, I literally went thru the same thing. Ring was purchased. 7 year relationship. She called me one day in the summer and wanted to "take a break." Some other guy swooped in. >>
>>63175718
It's interesting the similarities, though: In Scientology you have to agree, no matter what. On /tv/ when talking about LOTR we all have to like it or else. That's where the term "cult-like status" comes from. Crazies.
>>
I saw it for the first time in a marathon in theaters. All 3 movies, extended editions. It was fucking fantastic. The speech Sam does at the end of the third movie was fucking incredible.

I loved the first Hobbit as well. The second one, I saw that on my birthday, since it came out then. What a fucking disappointment.

There might yet come a day when we will see a greater movie than this trilogy.

But yes, watching the first movie with my mates, aged 15/16 and having a couple of beers afterwards (some of us not yet legally, of course), discussing the movie afterwards (most of us hadn't even read the books; I distinctly remember having only just been halfway through the first one) – that moviegoing experience is indeed a treasured memory of mine.

Alright /tv/, please be perfectly honest:
How badly DID they actually fuck up TFOTR with the filter crap?
I always come across those select few screencaps which do indeed look like crap.
But heck, I want to see the movies in HD!

So which is the bigger tradeoff: Shit-res or shit-filters?

I watched the Blu-Rays after having seen the DVDs, and I didn't really notice anything about the filters. Could be they've spiced up the color correction somewhat, but not in a way that's really noticeable.

Could it be that the DVD versions where the ones that had color correction takend DOWN a notch from how it looked in theatres to cope with the shitty resolution and give a clearer picture on shitty TV sets?

Actually the color grading on the DVD release was pretty much identical to the theatrical version from what I remember. For example a lot of outoor scenes in TTT always had a somewhat dull color scheme.

As a matter of fact the scanning and mastering of the DVD releases was top-notch.
The BD releases of the Hobbit trilogy on the other hand were sub-par. You had compression artifacts lilke colour banding (pic related) which shouldn't actually happen in a HD-release.
