In 20 years, Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm will be regarded as the most important event in the history of cinema since capeshit took over the market.
I feel sick
like seeing a half dead cow with a cold machine ceaselessly milking it until it's soul fades out
>>63172845
if they're done properly in good faith to the soul of the series then the sequels and the anthologies could be great
would like to see mcgregor get another crack at obiwan with a decent script and director
>>63172947
Obi Wan and Sheev were the only truly great things about the prequels.
in 20 years, Ant-Man will be remembered as the pinnacle of capeshit
>>63172947
>in good faith
>everything so far is derivative crap topped with political agendas
nah SW is dead
>>63173043
>implying I said the prequels were done in good faith to the originals
lucas basically committed infanticide
>Disney now owns Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars AND Indiana Jones.
>Avengers was the first Disney Marvel movie, became the 3rd highest grossing film of all time.
>Marvel capeshit planned up to 2030
>Force Awakens already widely predicted to become one of the top 3 highest grossing films of all-time.
Truly, the Jewing has only begun.
>>63172768
What are those three non-star wars movies? A spinoff trilogy?
>>63173084
I'm not talking about the prequels
Too bad that in 2050 we won't get all the big franchises to come together in one big mega-movie that will kill off all of them once and for all and leave way for real cinema to progress.
Fuck Hollywood.
At the very least use the real one, that is an old leak from July.
>>63173043
But The Force Awakens already looks at least better than all the prequels and Return of the Jedi.
>>63173084
What a pathetic attempt at damage control, disney
Gonna run the franchise into the ground, huh? The 17 years worth of anticipation made the prequel trilogy worth it. And the 11 years with of anticipation is gonna make Episode 7 worth it. But once we're getting a new one every year Star Wars is just gonna become a shitty franchise that we're all gonna be sick of. It's gonna kill the magic that made the old ones special.
>>63173196
you underestimate the star wars manchildren.
>>63173141
>he thinks cape or spaceshit will die

>Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, Disney mashup movie
please chosen people, make it happen. you can have all the shekels
What's depressing is that Star Wars should be the clearest example of why you should take risks. The original movie was a huge risk. It was a original idea (yes it was influenced by and copied from a thousand different things, but in terms of marketing it stood on its own). The production was nothing but trouble, the original cut was a disaster, everyone was sure it would flop, etc. And out of that came the biggest hit anyone ever saw. And rather than taking any lesson from that, we just have more of the same. Good or bad, what Star Wars 7 screams at the top of its lungs is "playing it safe."
But what's really depressing: studios have mostly exhausted 80's movies to remake and reboot and are moving unto the 90s (I think a new Independence Day is coming out next year?). But what happens when they get to the 00s/10s? What are they going to remake and reboot out of those decades? Few of the big hits were original, most were based on something else. Does it become a closed loop of remakes of remakes with the same content?
>>63173188
it doesn't feel like star wars
at least the prequels got that part right
>>63173444
Are you kidding? The prequels felt nothing like star wars at all

>>63173603
The prequels were incredibly boring though
The only way they could be 'comfy' is if you watched them when you were an 8 year old with no standards and hold nostalgic memories about them independent of the actual quality of the movies
>>63173439
This is why there will never be another Star Wars. It was a beautiful accident. When you try to be Star Wars you just further yourself away from being like Star Wars. A movie like The Room has more in common with Star Wars than any space movie that takes direct inspiration from Star Wars.

All of /tv/ is thinking it will be shit.
>>63173439
Do you think the current business model will be valid in ten years? Foreigners are still going to the movies, but not here. It's Transformers/Jurassic World tier shit from here on in. The Oscars might even change their criteria to allow for new business model films to be considered.
The new Star Wars movies are going to be shitty, edgy and grimdark because 90% of the fans are idiots who don't understand what makes Star Wars tick. All they want to see is the Empire kicking ass because that's literally all they absorbed from original trilogy.
>>63173839
What? The dominant opinion on /tv/ is that'll ape the original trilogy like made and make tons of money.
>>63173188
I would agree... if it weren't for the fucking Starkiller Base. Giving the enemy a bigger weapon than the Death Star doesn't make your plot good, Abrams.
>mfw in 30s and want to watch new ideas on screen or at the very least new window dressing on old stories instead of my childhood favorites churned out with shiny new clothes and the same good parts in them reused and spread across 10 more movies

Hollywood thinks they can just shift to catering more and more to foreigners. They're too blind to see however that as the Chinese box office grows, so does the Chinese domestic film industry. In 10 years they'll be making movies as big budget as anything in Hollywood.
>>63173043
You mean they hired a black lead. Holy shit stop the presses America has lost its way
>>63173950
so you'd rather the sequel trilogy was about the victorious rebels (or new republic whatever) sitting in the senate discussing trade deals, border disputes and all that other boring shit from the phantom menace? there needs to be an antagonising force for the movie to work
How long until we get two movies a year? It's inevitable right
>>63173259
This is what I meant by this, they all need to die together.

They were not comfy. They were sterile and bland in their designs, boring and annoying in plot and characters.
Even if the new ones go grimdark, that's still going to be better than polished bars of soap and happy meal characters.
Prequels effectively ruined Star Wars. The whole universe is forever tainted with that shit.
>JJ Abrams is making a grimdark Star Wars
WTF? No he isn't. He's just copying the original trilogy. Sure that'll mean dark elements, but it's going to have plenty of lighted heart momentsstolen directly from the original movies like everything else.
I mean for fuck's sake they openly admit they designed their droid to be cuter than anything in the original.
>>63174601
R2 is still cuter
>>63174630
Haven't really seen BB in action enough to judge one way or the other

Let's hope so. I for one can't wait for the fucking American/Hollywood domination of media and culture to fucking stop.
Enough with the fucking faggots, girlpower and niggers. I'd rather watch chinks doing chinky shit.

That's fair. I'll wait until I see the movie to decide if R2 is cuter.he is

>>63175234
even your precious cameron can't save you now. force awakens will topple avatar's record, become acclaimed as "the best star wars since Empire" and spaceshit will be as prevalent as capeshit, except it may arguably rake in more than Marvel as a franchise.
>>63175272
If you think those superficial elements are all it takes to make something actually like star wars you have zero idea what star wars actually was
>>63174601
Episode I steals a lot from Episode IV and was made by Lucas himself. Don't talk like JJ is the first to do this shit.
>>63174279
I really really hope this isn't in the film...
Ask yourself honestly, does Nazi imagery like that really belong in a Star Wars movie? I know elements of WW2 contribute a lot to the original trilogy but do we honestly need to see imagery like this in a fun action adventure movie..
>>63175278
>China lets in foreign companies into their market to grow domestic demand in whatever
>Strictly controls their presence so their domestic industry is protected and can grow too
>Eventually domestic industry is so big and so protected foreign companies bleed away their market share
>Chinese companies then start competing in the foreign market
This has happened in every fucking industry and no one learns from it.
>>63175438
I think the idea is the First Order is fanatical. It would make sense that they would go full nazi if you compare the Empire to the second reich.
>>63175332
>The prequels did it so it's okay if JJ does it
Is that seriously your argument?
>>63173086
>Dat Return on Investment
>>63175477
Why that specific imagery though, for what reason to do the villains have to look like nazi;s in a star wars movie?
does this director have to stoop so low to steal of the stylistic elements of Nazism to demonstrate "fanaticism" in his million dollar movie?
Or is it more agenda kike shillary, I don't know what to believe.
Is Lucas involved in VII in any way? He sold the rights to star wars, but does he still do anything in the production of the movie?
>>63175621
Because the Nazis were fanatics and they're an image burned into western minds. Also, Nazis looked cool as fuck. I want to join the first order right now.
>>63175651
He wrote the outline. The outline was quickly thrown in the trash.
>>63175621
Hitler was an artist. No one has been able to top the nazis in terms projecting power with art and image. It just looks good on film.

Why in a Star Wars movie made for mainly a child audience?

>>63174279
>mfw they literally went out of their way to have all of the unmasked soldiers be white
>>63175728
What was the agenda in the OT?
>>63175725
This one? Please respond
>>63175767
It was a movie that while touching on the ideas of genocide and empire, that was primarily a story about a hero and the redemption of his father, it managed to synthesize stylistic elements of WW2 without being politicized and over the top.
IT told a simple story in a good way, I don't think it's fair at all to compare a classic movie from another time with this tripe.
Someone plz reply to my question
Anyone?
>>63175886
Is there any reason to believe the first order is politicized?

>>63176306
I mean is there any reason to believe this imagery is being used to further the Jewish agenda?

>Showing the nazi's as the most horrific and evil empire ever to exist in a film
>literally so evil the build death stars and holocaust entire planets
>not forcing some kind of agenda on the kids who will watch this film
But it leads back to my question, why this specific imagery in a Star Wars movie, you must be a fucking hack to stoop this low in order to create a compelling piece of art.
>>63176265
>politicized
For normal humans that don't throw a fit when fantasy factions have heavy roman / ottoman empire / mongol / Imperial Japanese / or Nazi inspirations, no it isn't politicized.
For people who are heavily invested in where and how the Nazi regime and only the Nazi regime is portrayed and are constantly lobbying for them to be viewed better in history, yeah it's politicized.
Fictional alien races, fantasy empires, and the boogeymen of our imaginations are always based off of real world experiences and often too historical references, apparently this is just fine unless you decide to base your fictional space bad-guy faction off of a German government from the middle of the 20th century, then it's a problem.
Call me when they eventually decide to remake the prequels.
>>63176522
Why this specific "inspiration" in a Star Wars film for children?
The OT managed to do the same thing without bringing up blatantly obvious imagery like the red banners?
>>63175590
Episode VII: The Marketers Awaken
Episode VIII: Attack of the Manchildren
Episode IX: Return of the Investment
>>63176521
>why this specific imagery in a Star Wars movie
My answer was it's recognizable.
>>63176696
What a hack director
>>63176747
I guess, but you don't need to be a high artist to make a popcorn flick. I think people are getting too worked up over this movie.
>>63176576
The inspiration was there from the beginning. The empire in the OT was all male, all human, all white for a very specific reason it was to show that the empire (like some totalitarian regimes that will not be mentioned) was racist and desired uniformity. It's hard to miss that the rebellion was comprised of people of all races and aliens, and women which was in pretty stark contrast to the empire. Also the OT Empire's color scheme was white - black - red.
Also the whole "children" thing for star wars is overblown. The original film was aimed squarely at adults as there was no real market for children's films in the late 70's, children just happened to fall in love with the film which eventually drove toy sales when they started actually making toys a year after release. The prequels were aimed squarely at children.
>>63176576
I think it would be premature to say this particular movie is aimed at children. If anything it's aimed at fans of the OT. That could be anyone but it's mostly 18-50 year old men.
>>63172845
That's what it already has been for a long time. Probably your entire life.
Hell, that cow actually died and the cow that's dieing hooked up to these machines is a new one now..

Don't forget about Maker/Polaris. So they've got the youtubers (like the one in your image) covered.
I think I heard something about Disney and Ghibli too, so not even the east is safe.
I can't wait for the day when everything is owned by Disney and everyone technically works for Disney, so that copyright disputes no longer exist.
