How exactly did Blofeld know Bond would successfully stop Le Chiffre from destroying the airplane and force him into the card game? Did he really risk hundreds of millions of dollars JUST to fuck with Bond? What if another agent was sent in to stop Le Chiffre?
Maybe he was just financing Le Chiffre? The twist was a complete ass pull and his implication that he is the one to blame for Vesper's death was illogical, she killed herself out of guilt.
Blofeld wrote the script.
No idea, since Blofeld didn't provide Bond with any of the missing links necessary to figure out that Le Chiffre was behind it.
Maybe he sat all of that out but sent Mr White in to make contact with Vesper once he found out Bond was involved and planned to have her fuck him over. Once he found out they were in love he changed the plan to something marginally more retarded and she died in the crossfire. M said that Vesper must have known she'd die even after handing the money over so she clearly had no intention of being saved.

Goddam use your imagination. Just because bond acted unexpectedly didn't mean Blofeld didn't have contingency plans, or that how the events unfolded weren't contingency plans themselves. Once Bond crossed paths with SPECTRE, Blofield started pulling strings and would have messed with his world no matter where he turned.
