Not a great episode, but I guess if the finale is good then I'll be happy. This season have been really good so far.
I think one of the major drawbacks is that a lot of LOST fans thrived on the theorycrafting after each episode. Because of LOST, they are now wary to do the same for The Leftovers since those questions may never get answers.

I like the episode but I dislike Tommy as a character.
What I like about the show is that there are these The Stand vibes throughout and it's not quite clear which characters are on the "good" side and which ones are on the "bad" side or if even there are sides.
In that way the show is again very similar to LOST. There is some faith-based task to get accomplished in the long-run and characters are maneuvering around attempting to figure things out. Kevin is also very similar to Jack.
I just hope they're going somewhere with it all because I don't see HBO giving them more than three seasons for this.
