I used to think John Mulaney was gay, but he really isn't.

This is the reason he married what he calls a New York Jew. Jewish women, especially those from NY, are stereotypically very matriarchal, and his stories about how much he loves her and how she "supervises" him, this is true in her case. He also mentions that he doesn't want children, most likely because she would take care of their needs before his own. He hasn't and grown up and probably never will. Instead of finding a wife, he found a surrogate mother.
