Nice dubs, slowpoke

Even the anon who posted it realized it was a plebby criticism that's why he deleted it.

OP here
I nominate this as the worst offender. All the others are on point but at least the people saying them admit they watch movies as a passive interest. this one tends to be pushed by the most shallow and obnoxious of "film buffs"

I though this was just posted because the RLM episode with Max Landis ended, with him asking for a memorable line of dialogue

>>
>>63154345
Perhaps.

I don't know what people see in RLM, they're about as qualified as fucking Doug Walker. Same bullshit too, every time one of them says some stupid shit on their show you get anons spouting it as if it's an inspired thought.
>hurr shot reverse shot is outdated and boring
Apparently during exposition and character development we want to see some tryhard film student camerawork. while we're at it let's stop making novels in paragraphs, it's so cliché.
>>
>>63154046
I think cliche has become the most overused term when criticizing movies because of shit like Cinemasins.

>it's a /v/ opinion
>>
>>63154537
I certainly enjoy youtube channels like that, but it's brought a plague of armchair critics who geniunely think those tertiary aspects of filmmaking are important

>>63154580
Kek that's a lazy as fuck criticism, but as long as /v/irgins keep trying to force TLOU as an original narrative masterpiece you're gonna see it
>>
>The women couldn't defend themselves

It's like some people live on a different planet where women are instinctively Amazonian instead of helpless gatherers in a hunter's world.
>>
>>63154692
>as long as /v/irgins keep trying to force TLOU as an original narrative masterpiece

/v/ hates that game though
>>

>>

/v/ opinion's are terrible though
>>

Plenty of great novels are written without or with very few paragraph breaks
>>
>nothing happens

>no character development

>it has't aged well
>pretentious, 2deep4u
>not enough explanation/resolution, too ambiguous
>>
>>63154710
It certainly amazes me that in a country that worships guns as equalizers, some special snowflake viewers want to be convinced that a 130 lb woman is gonna beat a 205 lb guy with fisticuffs.

Haywire had some great jujitsu though.
>>
>it was boring
>>
>>63154859

>>

There's objectively nothing more pleb than /v/ spouting opinions outside their own cesspit.

Buddy, those weren't /sp/ homeboarders.

>>63154836
Ahh fair point, plenty have been. But the only writer I can think of that's done it and is still alive is Cormac McCarthy. I'm not as /lit/ as you may be, perhaps you know some more.
>>
>>63155039
it's the same board.
>>
>>63155071
if only you realized how false your statement is
>>

My ex "punched" me with a flurry of (30+) blows after I told her to get her shit and leave. I stood there weathering the "beating" until she screamed and left. Her friend texted me that she had bruised her hands up - I didn't have any physical injury whatsoever (though I did have the psychological impact of someone I cared for physically abusing me, or at least trying to). She became a coal burner then single again in her 30`s, I got a rl waifu. Lol.

>women
>comparable strength to men

>>
>>63155058
Mainly thinking of Beckett, Bernhard and one of Gaddis' works, but I'm sure there are several other examples as well. McCarthy uses plenty of paragraphs from what I've seen
>>
>>63155107
Go on either for about 5 minutes then
>>
>>63154046
>Too much filler
>>
When a critic can't respect the artistry of the medium, and reviews different technical aspects of it instead of the whole, like how was the screenplay, the cinematography, the music, etc, like the movie was some new mobilephone
>>
>>63155162
I've been on both forever. I'd know, anon.
>>
>>63155071
I agree, they crosspost as often as /fit/ and /soc/. both anime and vidya are media where the casuals are more intelligent than the dedicated base. There's an autist magnet somewhere there.

>>63154891
That's a valid opinion, but I personally think 3:10 to Yuma was better than most of the arthouse releases that year. But 2007 was a monster of a year, so I could be mistaken.
>>
>>63155128
You should have killed her in self-defense
>>
>>63155216
Probably why you're too blind to see why they're the same.
>>
>>63155169
The episode in the Sopranos where Tont drives his daughter to college was easily the best in that whole series, and it had barely anything to do with the larger plot.
>>
>>63155239
Bela Tarr has a film from 2007 so that's the best one
>>
>>63155250
Schaedenfreud is better.
>>
>>63155270
No way. I'm an intelligent human being; I refuse to accept the notion that I could be so blind to notice something so utterly obvious. /a/ is definitely not like /v/, trust me.
>>
>>63154294
Characters have to relatable if they aren't likable. In many cases they are neither.

People like Don Draper because he has a relatable quality of failure and success to him. They don't like him because he's an asshole who barely cares about anyone.

Other characters in other productions are not relatable on top of being unlikable.
>>
>>63154134
Thats what my uncle told me when he finished watching evil dead.
>>
>>63155150
I've read some of Gaddis' works. That man was much more intelligent than I am, it was a fun exercise. But yeah I think McCarthy in Blood Meridian used run on sentences during carnage to a very entertaining effect, there are a few pages that were walls of text. He definitely sticks to paragraphs as a whole.
>>
>>63155343
No one can deny that Tarr's a genius, but the Man from London is definitely his weakest.

>>63155442
I agree completely. No matter what the character is, we need a reason to watch what they do. If you're writing a conventional script, it's pretty easy to establish that.

The genre that seems to fail the most in this regard is mumblecore, because the self important narcissists that make that junk think that their suburban romans à clef are just inherently watchable.
>>
"meme"
>>
>>63155676
A good example for me is most of the cast of Hunger Games.
>>
>>63155194
Yeah, in this day and age we still believe in the myth of objectivity, and you even still see it in news reports. Critics want to stay away from interpretations that could violate the opinions of readers, which always lead to a fusillade of "you didn't get it" responses.
>>
>>63155457
it's what my normie friend said after watching literally 5 minutes of Under The Skin
>>
>>63155770
Kek, well YA sources target female teenagers the same way Fight Club is so appealing to male ones. The characters don't ring true but it subscribes to the worldview.
>>
>>63154046
>pointless
>>
>>63155239
/fit/ crossposting is usually not that bad at all, it's just memes.

/v/ crossposting derails threads with retarded opinions.
