I'm watching TDKR on TNT and noticed something - all the "violent" sound effects are practically muted. Hard punches and kicks sound like taps, gunshots are tinny and explosions are just low rumbles. How long has television been doing this?

for me it's the opposite. all the violent effects and music is amplified, while dialogue is so low i have to put on subtitles for most things
