When did The Wire hook you?
>>
>>63123120
instantly.

GOAT show.
>>
Episode 4
>>
>>63123120
It didn't. It was pretty boring. I watched two episodes.
>>
>>63123120
E9 but more seriously on the third season
>>
About halfway into S1. It takes a few episodes to get comfy with everything.
>>
Never
I watched it, but it never grabbed me at all. Same with the Soprano.
>>
>>63123120

Tried to marathon the first episode but got bored about 10 minutes in.
>>
>>63123120
Episode two or three when the cops raided the pit. You see a gang of cops beating on Bodie after he punched one of them and then Kima runs across the courtyard and I just knew she was going to try to stop them just like in every other cop show I have ever watched, the female cop is always the voice of reason. Then she pushes the other officers out of the way and starts wailing away on him with her nightstick.

That was when I knew this was a different show where the female cop was not going to always be the straight arrow who follows the rules while the male cops are always the fuckups.

Then came season five...
>>
The courtroom scene after the intro

The depressing ending of S1 is when I realised it was a god tier show though
>>
>>63123120
The first scene.
Money be green
>>
>>63123120
>this' america man
>>
>>63123556
That's not the first scene doe, the first scene's the one where it's painfully obvious Dominic West is trying his best to sound bawlmore but comes off as an awkward Brit.
>>
Second half of S1 for me and I think most people. I tried to watch a couple times and gave up before I finally watched enough to get what they were really doing.
>>
>>63123120
Currently watching it now, it was the gang scenes that sold it to me more than anything else. Half way through S2 and it doesn't seem to be as strong as the first series.
>>
>>63123676
Stick with season 2, it all ties together.

Its a broader take on crime.
>>
When I saw that Aidan Gillen was in it.
>>
>>63123630
You're right. The first two scenes are who killed the kid with the unfortunate streetname I cant remember, and the courtroom scene.
>>
>>63123120
I started watching this show in the middle of Season 3 when it was originally airing and I enjoyed it enough to go back and watch the first two seasons and I've been a big fan of that show ever since. It never disappointed me in any way.
>>
>>63123120
I dropped it after season 3
>>
>>63123120
in the middle of season 1

>>
>>63123714
I plan to watch it all, it's just the S2 doesn't have me as hooked as S1 did. Still decent though.

>>63123767
Snot
>>
WHEN YOU WALK
>>
>>63123845
You called the guy "Snot"?
>>
>>63123838
Some little hopper made a fairly decent fan song about Micheal. The beat and delivery sucks, but the lyrics are good.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qff4uGTZflM
>>
>>63123747
For me it was this exact moment
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFTMEOpmJT4
>>
>>63123972
>mfw all of Gillen's characters are from the same universe
>>
>>63123988
So you got hooked only 3.5 seasons in?
>>
>>63123120
When Wallace got shot.

I thought they were gonna pussy out and he'd escape, but I realized this show doesn't fuck around
>>
>>63123459
Well, in season 5, they were threatening her cushy job.
>>
I think that Where's Wallace? is when I really started to feel the show.

Also,
>>63124065
This. Basically Wallace's story. But that didn't at all prepare me for the force that is Season 4.

episode two
>>
the best part about this show is how realistic it is and the writing. I loved the end of s2 when the bad guys actually got away and it wasn't some edgy type shit, they just left the country
>>
>>63123120
Episode 2.

It's always funny to think that the first episode was a big NOOOOPE for me. I waited about a week to watch the second one.

tfw you get excited every time you see somebody from the wire in something
>>
>>63124468
Haha true
>>
>>63124468
Has Dominic West been good in anything after The Wire? He fit McNulty so perfectly that he just looks out of place in everything else.
>>
>>63124536
he's in one scene in The Attack of the Clones

but seriously, The Affair is alright
>>
>>63123120

When the project kids started throwing shit out the window at the cops. I feel like that's where it really picked up and started to get great after everything else feeling like an introductory.
>>
>>63123120
When I first saw Aidan Gillen's gripping performance. I knew at that very instance that I was watching a great show.
>>
I enjoyed season 1 but I didn't really fall in love with it until season 2 started to pick up and I got really invested in that story.
>>
Is this show worth watching for me?
Someone already spoiled that kenard kills omar
>>
I don't remember when I got "hooked" but I definitely remember finishing Season 2 and thinking "wow, that was really good."
>>
>>63126027
No point if you already know that.

middle of s1
>>
>>63123120

No clue which episode it is but that scene where he's drunk at night and trying to tell off a bunch of teens for loitering and then stumbles down a hill and crawls around looking for his badge. I dunno why but it was the moment for me
>>
>>63123120
Episode Three fully had me hooked
>>
At the end of season five.

I liked season 1 but I dropped in the middle of season 2, I find it boring and the bad guy are a asshole union really ? The documentary style was going to far, nothing happend.

Did the season 3 worth a watch ?
>>
>>63123120

The scene where McNulty and Bulk are going over an old crime scene and the only word each of them say is "Fuck" in various different ways. Loved that scene. Show had me hooked from then.

holy shit someone uploaded this
>>
>>63123158
Let me guess, you think Breaking Bad was one of the most groundbreaking shows on television.
>>
Final episode of s1 was what made me stick with it as it became clear that everything was carefully written and prepped with clear setups and payoffs. Seeing the result of A full season made me get through the weaker season 2 hook.
>>
>>63123120
didn't. ep1-6 bored me to turs, gave up and moved on
>>
it hooked me right away but the 'fuck' crime scene investigation was when i knew i was watching something special
>>
>>63128222
breaking bad and the wire are equally great, anon.

When shit started picking up with the first case and they finally got that wire tap they wanted. I like how they complimented both storylines and I could tell it was gonna be something good during Sobtkas meeting with the Greek in season 2.
>>
right from when they killed snot
>>
The episode that ends in Omar's first revenge kill is the one where everything starts coming together
>>
>>63127523
>>63129166
It didn't strike you as self-indulgent or at odds with the show's claims to realism?
>>

This.

Actually Sopranos had me until I read a plot summary and realized that there basically isn't a plot.
>>

>>
>>63123120

Once they started forming the team in season 1
>>
>>63131708
The episode dealing with the fallout of that is my favourite one to just sit down and watch
Also must be the only episode where Rawles and Burrell do something decent
>>
is there a bait at the end of that wire?
>>
it was the scene where lester interviews this stripper

it was the first scene I ever saw but something about it really caught me

Yes. S5 has a strong finish despite the many flaws in the serial killer and newspaper plots.
>>
>>63138285
>the many flaws in the serial killer and newspaper plots.
What are some of the actual 'flaws' though? Other than pacing being fucked by 10 episodes instead of 12/13, it's perfectly fine. Definitely less interesting or entertaining as the previous stuff though.
