When did you realize that Casino is a better movie than Goodfellas? And keep in mind that rewatchable doesn't inherently mean the best.
>>
>>63113219
I like them both
>>
I can't rewatch Casino because of Sharon Stone's character.
>>
>>63113260

Me neither, not to mention how much of a beta de niro is. It's infuriating how pathetic he is.

>When did you realize that Casino is a better movie than Goodfellas?
As soon as the credits rolled
>>
I always liked GoodFellas better because of how it followed the life of an asshole scumbag better. Henry Hill in the movie only learns one thing and that's how much it sucks to get caught, even then he considers it a hell to live a normal life.

It makes you consider that what sort of mindset do you really have to have to have being a normal Joe when the rest of your buddies who arr either dead or in prison is really a 'horrible' punishment.
>>
>>63113283
Yeah, the Jewish stereotype is also a little on the nose. Awesome film regardless.
>>

>It makes you consider that what sort of mindset do you really have to have to have being a normal Joe when the rest of your buddies who arr either dead or in prison is really a 'horrible' punishment.

That's sort of the point of Casino, isn't it
>>
overall its better, but GF had better and more memorable scenes

Pesci was hammy as fugg
>>
>>63113260
>implying Ginger isn't one of the greatest villains of all time

I get pissed off everytime at her I see the movie and that's the intended reaction.
>>
I don't care how popular goodfellas is. It's the best movie of all time, whenever it's on tv I get sucked into watching it every damn time. I can't find any legitimate flaws in it.
>>
>>63113367
>villains

Shitlord detected
She was a strong woman making it on her own in a patriarchal world.
>>
Casino is more entertaining, but it's not better. Both movies suffer from the same problem of too much focus on the wife in the later parts of the movie.
>>
>>63113356
Sam seems somewhat satisfied at the end, though. His final narration is less of a finality and more of "Hey, I had a nice thing but it got fucked up." He is still living the good life but not like he was before.
>>
Both are shit, now fuck off back to reddit. /thread

I honestly didn't like Casino at all. The cast was underdeveloped, and a lot of time was wasted on flashy Dad-rock sequences where it could have been spent fleshing everything out more.

Goodfellas had some pacing problems, but I think it's the better film.
>>
>>63113413
Isn't he some regular joe accountant? Seems like quite a fall from the good life in LV.
>>
>>63113388
I'm taking the crystal clear obvious bait here but tying up your daughter to snort coke and fuck other men doesn't make you a strong woman.
>>
>>63113420
>Dad-rock sequences
What do you mean by that?

The big issue with Casino is that it drags on for slightly too long and that Pesci's character is flanderized as fuck.
>>
>>63113428

Nah, he's just a casual gambler, but he's still really good at it.
>>
>>63113419
What are you trying to achieve with this post?

You can't make this board any worse.
>>
>>63113428
He's still a bookie in San Diego but we see he's living in a nice house with the same fancy set-up to watch horse races and shit while his marks call him.
>>
>getting keked by james woods
>>
Casino is more comfy tb.h. Except for Sharon Stone, but that's how it is with bitches.

Just doing my job
>>
>>63113495
It always pissed me off that we never saw him getting killed. If there was a version of the movie with him getting beat to death with baseball bats then it'd be perfect.
>>
>>63113523
You only think these movies are good because when you watch them, you imagine yourself as an alpha male cool gangster. Same with Sopranos or The Wire.
>>
>>63113219
They seem like very different types of stories to me (despite clear similarities)

Goodfellas is more about the individual. About how Henry got seduced by the idea of life in organised crime - the glamor, the luxury, the power - and how this morally breaks him/leads to his fall.

Casino, on the other hand, feels more like it's about the ending of a golden age in general. All the little pieces - the greed, the infighting, the nurturing of sociopathy, etc - that contributed to the mafia, in its sparkling prime, falling to a lower form of crime.

Overall, I do love Casino more but I can see why Goodfellas could be loved by others as a better personal story.
>>
>>63113552

What?

Sounds like you're projecting senpai.
>>
I'm a dealer at our state casino. I have a boss who looks like DeNiro and a boss who sounds, looks and is as tall as Pesci.
>>
>>63113545
He's a literal nobody, not even a character
>>
>>63113579
Time to stir some shit anon
>>
>>63113579

Do all the dealers smoke?
>>
As an Italian manlet I have to say Pesci's character is a source of inspiration.
>>
>>63113588
Even still, James Woods has a perfect way of playing slimy characters and I think he did an awesome job in Casino. As much as you might not think he's a character he's a catalyst for much of the shit involving Ginger.
>>
Stone's character really fucking annoys me.

Good movie

>cokehead Sharon Stone will never tie you to bed while she's out keking you
>>
>>63113413
It is also more outward and much more ironic.

De Niro had to lose everything because crime needed to be punished. But they just replaced it with another crime synidcate to run LV.
>>
>>63113701
Actually it's not even a crime syndicate, just some developers and real estate moguls. It's a recurring theme in mafia films (also shows like Sopranos) that organized crime is somehow more authentic and warm, while big business just squashes you whole and only cares about making dosh.
>>
>>63113643
Pesci's got a retarded voice. it's impossible to feep intimidated by a manlet that sounds like Duck Donald
>>
>>63113752
Pesci's intimidating because it's clear that he's got Napoleon syndrome and would break a man's spine just out of his butthurt ego.
>>
>>63113784

This, insecure manlets are the worst. You already know they have nothing to live for, so they don't give a fuck.
>>
>>63113736
Ye I was being abit sarcastic by calling massive corporations and governmental bodies a crime syndicate. But I do recall De Niro narrating that it was all bought with junkbonds.

>that organized crime is somehow more authentic and warm

I agree. This is also reflected by LV turning into disneyland afterwards. It seems that the mafia, no matter how brutal they were, they would atleast not turn a sin like gambling into a amusementpark. Giving them more character.

I like Casino more but I think Goodfellas is objectively the better film.
>>
Goodfellas was great.

Casino was meh and after watching it I started to feel Scorsee is a hack.

The Departed was also painfuly mediocre and I can now safely say Scorsee is a hack.
>>
>>63113934
Wolf of Wall Street is legit good
>>
>>63113943
I hate the movie just from the people involved in it, I'll never watch it.
>>
>>63113934
His best years are certainly past him. Sad to think it was The Departed that won the Oscar and not Raging Bull.
>>
>>63113328
>what sort of mindset do you really have to have to have to have to have to have to have being a normal Joe

if you stutter one more time i swear to god
>>
>>63113955
Yeah actually I felt Raging Bull was the kind of film I want from him. That was one of his best.
>>

East Coast Gangsters are way more fascinating. Wops moved out West for a reason.

Casino is just Goodfellas without the memorable lines and characters and worse pacing.
>>
>>63114090
>without the memorable lines

the whole meeting in the desert scene
>>
>>63114090
Pacing in Casino is good, it's just a really long film.
>>
>>63113814
>You already know they have nothing to live for, so they don't give a fuck
This is exactly why I'm intimidated by anyone who has a mullet in this day and age. They don't even give a fuck what decade it is.
>>
>>63113814
Which is why they often rule the world or achieve great though bizarre things.
>>
Casino felt too much like a documentary. The whole movie was narrarated. Didn't appear as blatant in Goodfellas
