Imagine if The Fellowship of the Ring stayed in the shire for 90% of the movie, then 10 minutes of Elrond, then 1 minute of them going through Moria and finally skipping to Frodo and Sam on the lake.
The movie was great when it started, but it never goes anywhere until it breezes through a shit second act and an even more rushed ending. Apparently the studio cut its budget and the director was told to suck a dick, so the movie was shit in the end.
It was said the original body-horror motiff was cut back cause muh pg-13.
