I just watched this...and its garbage. Literally the excellent tonal shifts cannot make up for an incoherent and nonsensical plot: the movie.
There was times where was firmly IMPOSSIBLE to tell what was going on...like when the girl goes crazy and starts kicking stuff out of the fucking NOWHERE...and that annoying little girl in the piano...the lil bitch got what she deserved for being so goddamn STUPID...also, the OST was fucking miserable...that ambient traditional japanese music mixed with 60s pop and american funk playing nonstop was gringing my gears.
For a 1:30 minutes long movie its boring as hell. COME AT ME.

Not that Hausu is high art, but if plot is so important to you you're throwing a good deal of art into the trash, a fair share of what is considered some of the greatest achievements in their mediums, especially with books.
Why is it so hard for people to accept something that doesn't make conventional sense? Hausu has great stylization, very good composition and some truly unique editing and visual effects. Why can't you appreciate it for what it clearly is going for? Why are you trying to hold it up to some non-existent standard for what a film should be? If you keep thinking like this you're going to severely retard your ability to sit down in front of a film and absorb it in any truly meaningful, developed way.

This is terrible. Yes, there are moments of laughing at the stupidity, but they don't make up for the rest of it. I'm sure there will be people out there who liked it and will say "Oh, look at the techniques they used, the plot is a metaphor for blah, they used the blah fx, etc, etc." No. Just no. The fx are horrible, the story is non-existent, and the "acting" cannot even be rated. 0.5/5
