The boxing scenes were some of the best action I've seen on film. And Stallone should have the Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance.

I got pumped for the closing fight. It almost felt like I was watching a pay-per-view fight and then the Rocky theme started pkaying.....the movie definitely leaves the possibility for a sequel, which I do t mind one bit. 9/10

It's a trick, you aren't getting more than you expected coming into it. As far as Rocky's go it's the second or third best though. Original Rocky is the best. It's a well done, predictable, somewhat inspiring boxing movie.

Ostensibly, it's just Black Rocky.
But it's more than worth the watch because it's actually very well made. Technically, very true to the tone of the first and yet finding its own heart with a fantastic performance from Sly, supporting young MBJ, who in turn shows up strong, yet vulnerable.
Lots of heavy emotions as we see a Rocky who has lost everything and everyone and looks at the end of his life ready to go.
Great action, especially when you notice that Adonis' first big fight is shot in one continuous take from inside the ring.

But god damn did it have a good script, a good director and some great actors to make it not only a viable addition to the franchise, but to give it its own feet on which to build its own franchise headed by Micheal B. Jordan as he rightfully rises above the mess that was Fant4stic.

Two men in a slump because of their pasts help each other find serenity and look toward to the future. Simple, poignant, and gradual. Reminds me of what's enjoyable of the original ROCKY, without dwelling on it too much. Best possible outcome you could hope for considering the given materials. Stallone, Jordan, and Thompson are all on the same page with the Coogler making this a nice smooth 2 hours and change. The scene where Jordan shadowboxes in front of the screen almost made me tear up. It's a real affecting movie. Shows that with every punch someone is cheering and another is wincing.
