So let me get this straight

>a bunch of planets and races get together and decide they have had enough of the Republic pushing them around
>Decide to secede and leave
>Republic decides to go to war, ruining countless lives
>the republic are the good guys
>>
>>63080046
let's get it straighter

>a bunch of interplanetary corporations and trade syndicates decide they have had enough of the Republic not pandering to their interests
>Decide to assemble a massive robot army and carve out their own laissez-faire protectorate
>Republic unexpectedly produces their own army and escalates shit
>everybody loses because the entire conflict was engineered by Palpatine
>>
>>63080046
That's how I look at the American Civil War too. Slavery may be a distasteful and immoral institution, but is that grounds to refuse to allow people to peacefully leave your nation? The Union war to preserve the... Union, was a purely pragmatic and selfish act on the part of its leaders. No government wants to lose power and influence.
>>
>>63080161
who is palpatine?
>>
>>63080226
150 years later and they're still crying.
>>
>>63080226

The South's secession was illegal in a time where there were no fewer than three legal options to exit the Union. Cry more.
>>
>>63080291
Good thing they have college football or else I think the whole south would kill themselves.
>>
>>63080226
bruh, without even going into the fact that states had no right to secession under the notion of a "more perfect union", do you really think the successful formation of the CSA would have been better for all involved in the long term? A lot of the continent was still in the process of being explored and colonized, there's no way two nations with such bitter ideological differences would have been able to coexist peacefully for any reasonable length of time. The Civil War was costly, but it prevented something that was potentially far worse.

Yankee hypocrite carpet bagging scumbags never change.

Thank you for sending more people per capita into the military to fight for this union.
>>
>>63080392
maybe it's the precepts the rebellions were formed upon, rather than merely rebellions themselves.
>>
>>63080486

The Revolution was a mere rebellion though. It got apotheosised later on, after they won.
>>
>>63080161
None of this was made clear in the films
>>
>>63080511
It's not a rebellion if you win.
>>
>>63080548
you must be really dumb because all of this was made clear.
>>
>>63080548
It took them 6 seasons of kids cartoon to explain it.
>>
>>63080548

Nothing was made clear in the prequels its part of the reason why those movies will never be better than 4/10. They are incoherent, poorly acted, sloppy disasters on film and children love them because of poop jokes and cgi space battles.
>>
>>63080548
Really? The fact that the CIS

>had a leadership echelon populated not with freedom fighters or political idealists, but entirely with corporate executives
>was building a fuckhuge droid army in secret even though the Republic had no military to menace them with
>was mostly in the dark about the clone army, aside from Dooku and Sidious
>was created by Sidious with the sole purpose of orchestrating a pretext for installing himself as autocrat

wasn't made clear in the films? Because lemme tell you, the plot is meant to be simple enough for children to absorb it.
>>
>>63080548

you can clearly read it in Count Dookula's face though

>Slavery may be a distasteful and immoral institution, but is that grounds to refuse to allow people to peacefully leave your nation?

The North had slavery, with Kentucky, Maryland, etc. still being slave states for all of the war.

Lincoln deliberately chose NOT to free the slaves in Northern states with the "Emancipation Proclamation" (read the actual words, it only "frees" slaves that were within the CSA).

Furthermore, Lincoln ENFORCED THE FUGITIVE SLAVE ACT for the entirety of the war.

And of course the pretense that the war was about slavery becomes even more ludicrous when you consider that the Union
>drafted
people into going to invade the South, with drafting/conscription being a polite way of saying that the government is (rather directly) enslaving you.

It's already painfully retarded and cringeworthy listening to leftists spout this "It was about slavery" nonsense, the last thing we need is people on the right (wrongfully) conceding all of these bullshit points.

Are you retarded?

This is stupid.

The fact that Lincoln prioritized targeting slavery in states that were in open rebellion over states that remained loyal to the Union isn't some kind of conspiracy. It's just common sense. Congress still passed the 13th Amendment before the war's end, and states such as Maryland and West Virginia had abolished the institution before that. Likewise, the Fugitive Slave Act was NOT enforced for the entirety of the war, it was officially repealed by the 38th Congress and had been de facto abandoned far previous, especially since escaped slaves were considered contraband and subsequently freed in almost all cases.

>Kentucky, Maryland
>Both states below the Mason Dixon
>Part of the North

your post reaffirms just how stupid you rednecks in the south really are

All part of the plan. We'll have your teeth good and pulled when we tell you fuck off and die next time.

>The South's secession was illegal

Was that before or after they seceeded?
