Honestly, The Simpsons makes me cry. There's something about those first ten or so seasons that captured a feeling that no other show has been able to capture since. And it's devastating to see what the show has become nearly twenty seasons later.
I can't watch the current seasons anymore. It's way too detached from what the series initially was made for. The initial Flanderization was okay, but the eventual Flanderization of every character on the show was too much.
I just want it to die. I wish it died at Behind the Laughter. I miss The Simpsons.

No one understands what I mean when I say the Simpsons felt like real people, more so then most comedy shows On,before, and especially after its golden run. Plus the pacing of joke after joke made the show just so fucking good.

Some of those prime seasons are really emotionally honest in ways that other shows can't pull off. Shit like Homer's choices in "Maggie Makes Three"--its such a nuanced take on the sacrifices an everyday father makes for his family. Kinda makes me tear up desu senpai. I think the show is just so good at showing the rich depths and quiet dignity in middle class american life.
