So, I just marathoned "Whiplash". I thought the movie had it's moments, the JK Simmons character was more interesting than the lead characters from either "The Hobbit" trilogy, or even the main and supporting cast of "Interstellar".

i liked it but my wife's son didn't care for it

How the fuck do you marathon a movie? watching it at 2x speed?
>>
>>63073622
how new are you
>>
>>63073622
When you watch the entire thing in one sitting without taking any breaks to fap, post on /tv/ or eat. If you marathon the whole thing it's usually a sign of a great movie.

Since you're new here a message regarding cinema playback speeds.

2x speed for flicks. 1.5x speed for movies. Regular speed for movies. 0.75x speed for kino.
>>
>>63073741
>1.5x speed for movies. Regular speed for movies.
What did he mean by this?
>>
>>63073741
This guy knows. Upvote.
>>
>>63073741
Thanks for your enlightenment gentlemen, I have been watching my flicks incorrectly all of this time.
I will correct my ways once I get off the kino showers.
All my karmas to you good sir.
>>
>>63073768
Regular speed was supposed to be for Films. I made a mistake while typing.

Some people say that the cinematography of a blockbuster like "The Hobbit" or, hell, even "Jurassic World" is unmatched in this digital day and age. Independent films, like "Whiplash" and "Fargo" are being left by the wayside. Stellar performances, stellar sound boarding and editing. Why even bother paying the $11.50 just to munch on some overpriced popcorn and laugh at how funny the latest comedy (or tragedy) is. Better yet, wait for it to come out on DVD. Bluray? Lol yeah frickin right! I'm sick of it, and I'd bet money that most of you feel the same way.

Do you think I can suggest my local theater to change their playback speed? Watching flicks at normal speed feels so wrong.
>>
>>63074349
If I go to a movie theater, I want my moneys worth. I want to see a spectacle. I want a good reason I'm sitting there and not home; for example Fury Road achieved this perfectly

I watched whiplash home and lost nothing
>>
>>63073622
>not watching it at 1.5x

Doesn't sound odd and I shave off some minutes.
Minutes that I use here
>>
>>63074406
At my local cinema we have a voting system where at 15 minute intervals the audience are given a chance to raise their hands on a vote on whether to speed up or slow down the playback speed of the movie.
>>
>>63074447
Sound plays a key.
And if you think your system at home is better than a theatre, think again.
>>
>>63073741
>When you watch the entire thing in one sitting without taking any breaks to fap, post on /tv/ or eat.
what the fuck? is this normal? you guys actually take breaks?
>>
>>63074491
Mine used to do that until it made the eagles nervous and they started to bite on people fingers.
Now we just watch at the speed our cinema gods wants.
>>
>>63074511
Depends on how boring the movie is. I started 2001 six days ago and only managed to get to the ending this morning.

Ok, case in point taken. But still....what's the last MOVIE (emphasis on the capitals) that you truly enjoyed without giving in to the spectacle? Meaning, take "There Will Be Blood" for example. If I told you that the sound mixing on that film was an 8/10 and the editing and composition were both perfect 10s...(and I Wouldn't be lying) would the average movie goer even know or care? Or would they rather load up Netflix and watch the latest thriller on the suggestions box? Money isn't even a factor here, this is art. True art is priceless, but there will always be some poor sucker trying to impress his so called "girlfriend" willing to shell out X amount of dollars for exponentially less market value. And this doesn't make you sick? Negro please, you're not fooling anyone.

I fucking hate this board.

If i had the option to kill every single poster on one single board including myself it would be /tv/.
>>
>>63074620
Actually I think the problem is that you're a fucking crossposter and so will never understand true cinema or /tv/'s culture.
>>
>>63074643
/tv/ never had an identity apart from baneposting and before that it was /lost/ the board.

Don't act like making this your main board is something you should ever be proud of.
>>
>>63074661
Deciding to devote my life fully to /tv/ was the best decision I've ever made. You're only viewing this board on an incredibly surface level, there are whole other layers of this board that go right over your head until you fully commit yourself.

>6 days to watch a film
I swear 4chan and masturbation is so damagint o the mind
>>
>>63074870
I lose entire days in /tv/ / porn loops.

I usually start the day by starting/resuming a movie/show I have going, then I get bored and go on /tv/ then I'll stay there here in a shitposting frenzy for literally the entire day, telling myself I will resume my movie in a moment, and then I'll get tired and go to sleep. Then I wake up the next day, watch some more of the movie and it happens again.

Why can't you just fucking talk normally? Why does every single thread have to be an attempt to piss someone off by claiming some ridiculous shit like showering in the cinema?

Holy fucking shit, I fucking hate you people.

A FUCKING MARATHON?

I've never showered at a cinema, are those showers any good? A friend of mine uses them all the time, he thinks they're great.
>>
>>63075527
Get out normie. Once a mind has become conditioned to /tv/ only the very upper tier of cinema is stimulating enough to hold its attention. Whiplash just isn't fucking good enough.
>>
>>63075549
They're pretty good.

>>63075549
Pretty obvious bait.

There is no way you would have made it past the detectors and track hounds without taking a proper cinéma shower.

Is this 2015's top meme?

>>63073622

>How the fuck do you marathon a movie? watching it at 2x speed?

That would be Sprinting a movie.

You marthon a movie by either watching at half speed or by only taking 3 or 4 breaks to post on 4chan or check Facebook.

>whole show based around jazz

>doesn't even properly teach the kid how to play

lmao, all this technique garbage is bogus, it shows little in the way of emotional connection with the music or using your emotions to feel the music and play based on them. Refuse to see it because of this.
>>
>>63075645

Depends on the movie. If it's a typical 3 act structure, 2 breaks is fine.

But if it's something unconventional and artistic, like Birdman, you really need about 4 breaks otherwise your mind will wander and you will lose track of what is happening.
>>
>>63075684
>But if it's something unconventional and artistic, like Birdman, you really need about 4 breaks otherwise your mind will wander and you will lose track of what is happening.
It's best to just take it in all at once even if it does fry your brain just to preserve the overall effect of the movie. You can always go back and watch the coolest scenes and work out what happened in the parts you didn't understand with a plot synopsis later.

I watched Victoria the other day which was over 2 hours long, I was so anxious and overloaded with information that I was writhing around in my chair and even pacing around the room by the final 30 minutes but I'm glad I took it in all at once because if you lose momentum in a film like that it's hard to go back to.
>>
>>63075684

quick someone make /film/, this is unbearable
