I cant think of a movie with a better ending
Can you?
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind had the same ending.
Ha, fuck off. Even just in terms of other fedoracore something like No Country For Old Men is a lot better. Never mind bringing actual cinema into this.

Nigger get a cinema
In the korean movie, "A Bittersweet Life," when the gangster goes out to kill his employer for revenge, but it turns out that it was all just a fantasy he had as a low-level gangster.
In the korean movie, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance when the kidnappers accidentally kill the kid's son, and he gets revenge by killing the mute guy, but then the girl also ends up getting her henchmen to kill him.
Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance especially, have better endings and are better than Oldboy.

nah ur just trying to be edgy
id say Mr Vengeance is the worst from that trilogy u can make a point for Lady being the best but the ending of Oldboy is still way way better overall

A Boy and his Dog

Nah m8.
Oldboy is one of the most overrated movies of the past 15 years. I was really disappointed with it overall. It felt cartoony like an anime (yes I know it's based off of a manga) and the plot twist fell flat.
"You caught me fucking my sister so I hypnotized you into ducking your daughter".
Mr. Vengeance was great all around, I don't think I've ever seen a bleaker film. It really nailed home the whole "revenge isn't worth it" aspect of the trilogy.
While I enjoyed Lady Vengeance the most and think it has the best ending I still think Mr. Vengeance was the best overall.

Actually this might be the correct answer
Gladiator
>>63066509
not really. they were both aware by the end that they were a couple because of the tapes
In Oldboy both character are completely ignorant of their real identities (by the end of it)

Oldboy is just a "philosophical voiceover" ending. they are a dime a dozen, almost all use some symbolism or wistful tone to shape the audience's reaction. it definitely works for some stories but it's hardly cinematic.
oh and Citizen Kane is the best ending.

Were the stories in the vengeance trilogy connected? I can't remember which parts I even watched when they were relevant.
>>63069820
>dime a dozen
the correct saying is "a diamond dozen" m8
fucking perfect
>>63066649
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance is easily the best of the trilogy, Kang-ho Song is incredible. Oldboy is overhyped but still classic. Lady has some of the best shot scenes but is a bit over the top near the end.

watch it again, only after watching ESotSM did i realize that the ending wasnt really a happy one.
the skipping / overlapping in the end implies that after their new try on things, they still met the same end and decided to get shit erased (thus the skipping, which means erasing was in progress).
