2001 is the best film of all time. It's never been surpassed. The amount of effort Kubrick puts into his movies is unprecedented even to this day. It portrays humanity, technology and time in a way that will never be done again, because now all movies are about obligatory romance/generic violence/sex,etc.

Every frame was a painting. Visual and musical perfection without treating its audience like children and trusting them to have the patience/understanding to appreciate it.
