The entire movie is an exploration of his own sub-conscious, in particular the parts that deal with sex and love. Man's primal instincts clashing with his philosophical ideals about how to live life are a common theme in kubrick's films. In my opinion it's about a) repressed sexuality and relationships, like supressed gayness and male insecurity b) some yuppy on top of his game throwing money around bribing people, but learns there are always bigger a bigger fish c) some conspiracy shit regarding the fashion industry providing models for orgies (see the newspaper article mentioning some fashion designer and sandor saying he knows some people in the art game and his perference for the rennaissance which explains the customs at the orgy) d) Bill and Nick being mirrors of eachother like the hooker is a mirror of Alice, in the sense where following your desires might lead to, e) dream like feel during the first part and the waking up think during the second part, f) the orgy being itself an aspect of what repressed sexuality might lead to on a larger scale hinting at the dark sides of it

Ambiguity is for instance about the internal conflict between the philosophical/cultural ideal of love coming into conflict with the primal and instinctual part of our conscious more responsible for sex. The film seems to explore this concept, delving into how these two parts of our conscious interact. You could take away many, many more specific ideas about what that interaction means or some kind of purpose or draw a completely different deeper meaning about the film but 'dream like feel during the first part then waking up think during the second part' isn't a deeper meaning..that's nothing.
I'm not saying you have to agree with my personal take on the film and how scenes fit into that but if all you have is 'alice's daughter was a whore really' then I can confidently say you didn't grasp the film.
