What are your favorite movies of the year so far?
For me, it's a tie between Ex Machina and Sicario, but there's a lot to watch still.
>>63052497
The Danish Girl
Jack Reacher
John Wick
The Gunman
The Equalizer
>>63052497
Sicario definitely
Mostly because of the soundtrack. Without it the movie would've been average to mediocre.

What made you strongly like/love While We're Young?

Are you sure you replied to the right person? I have no idea what you are talking about.

I wish I could go to film festivals and not live in the podunk South.
>>63052497
Fury Road
The Martian
Special mention to The Kingsmen for not being a wheelbarrow full of dog turds, that was a shocker.
>>63052583
Great list—I've been meaning to watch a lot of these.
What did you think of The Witch? I was disappointed to various degrees by the last three supposed saviors of horror (We Are Still Here, It Follows, The Babadook). I'm looking forward to watching The Witch, and there are a few others I should probably check out (Creep, The Invitation, Green Room, Honeymoon, Goodnight Mommy, Spring).
Has anyone seen Criminal Activities? It's Jackie Earle Haley's directorial debut. Loved him in Little Children.
It's also got Michael Pitt, John Travolta, and Dan Stevens, so that's a lot going for it.
>>63052782
>Travolta
>a lot going for it.
It may be good, but he's been in the straight to video phase, again, for a while
>>63052823
Going for easy money doesn't mean he can't act.
Regardless, I'll watch it tonight. Hoping it's good.

2015 was a pretty meh year for movies. There was some decent stuff, but nothing spectacular.
>>63052879
Just because you haven't seen many great movies this year doesn't mean they aren't out there. Every year has at least a handful of excellent releases.
>>63052901
I read over the thread. No one mentioned an excellent release. Care to enlighten me on this year's?
>>63052946
Depends on taste. I don't expect yours to fall right in line with what RT/IMDB/Letterboxd/various film festivals reflect.
What are some of your favorite movies?

I like The Witch a lot. The plot/setting was very interesting and unique. I love the lore surrounding New England witchcraft, so I came into it with an interest in the subject matter. I think it's much better than those three you named. I didn't like Goodnight Mommy very much.
