Watching TOS while pumping iron

It takes a while for it to get good when all of the first few episodes are about weirdos infiltrating the ship but everything after Balance of Terror has been great. Miri's been my favorite even if they didn't question for a second how the planet is an exact copy of 1960s Earth

He did good things, like hiring Jeri Ryan. He did bad things, like hiring Jeri Ryan just so that he could fuck her.

Save DS9 as a reward for when you finish TOS and TNG.

I also thank him for adding her to the show. With out Seven I would have never given Star Trek a shot and would have missed out on a lot.

Voyager was my first and favorite Trek. Started watching it after /tv/ wouldn't stop spamming A thread with the image of The Doctor getting a pity kiss form Seven every day about 3 years ago. This was before teh word "JUST" was even a thing on this site.
Yeah it's not perfect but I really like most of the characters and that mid 90s sitcom vibe the show gives off at times.

I watched four episodes. The first episode I watched of the show was a Baseball in Space episode.
I'll repeat that Baseball IN SPACE.
Pretty arrogant of them to imply that the sport would even still be remembered that fare into the future. It's like when every trek show ALWAYS has that Nazi/ Holocaust/ Hitler episode. As if that war will be the worst war in human history that everyone that far into the future will remember. As if there wont ever be a more epic war in the future (or past) that they would think of first.

Only 4 characters (Sisko, Sisko's son, Sisko's bae and Sisko's rival) in the entire show (out of a recurring cast of 50+) give a shit about it.

I'll give it a shot I guess but only because /tv/ seems to talk so highly about it. Maybe I missed something.

>>63024935
Why?
With Voyager I started watching the first episode Seven of nine came in which was the last episode of season 3 and onward. I wanted to give the whole Star Trek thing a real shot but feared that all the tech and alien culture talk would alienate / bore me. I knew if I stared with the Trek Seven was in I'd at least have her sex appeal to keep me going .

Enterprise was my second Trek because I thought that since it's the most modern one I'd find it more enjoyable plus it also had a sexy female character.

I was hyped for TNG because since I grew up when it was airing and it was the most iconic one to me. I already knew and loved the them song and characters without ever watching the show because they were part of pop culture but I made the mistake of watching the first episode of TNG in hopes of watching it from start to finish like I did Enterprise . I couldn't get past the first disc. I as board and so bummed out that I wasn't connecting to the show.

I skipped to a random disc in season four and found that made some cast changes. One major plus was that they got rid of that kid and really found myself enjoying the show.

When it came time to watch DS9 I thought I should stay clear of the first season since with most trek shows the first season is kinda rough seeing that the show , actors and characters are still working out the kinks and still trying to get into their grove. I picked a disc from a later season thinking that by that point the show would be a well oiled machine and that I would get a good feel for what the show was all about.

Don't start at season 4. You're robbing yourself. Yes, season 4 is where it becomes far more serialized, but there are a number of events prior to that which setup season 4 on through the end of the show. Plus, you're missing some pretty GOAT moments that will impact how you view the characters dealing with the events of seasons 4-7.

There are some stinkers but it's worth it. If you liked Voyager and Enterprise you'll love DS9.

TOS = TNG = DS9 > Voy > Ent

You're correct about Security Officer, Helmsman, Engineering, Medical if you tied the first two, and Morale

All besides that is trash

You're right. And that's a good order, she'd be on last place for me as well. Honestly, Tucker was one of the rare good characters in Enterprise.
