>>63021369
Poorly memed desu
The Antonioni alienation trilogy
literally 3 of the best movies ever made
before trilogy is good, but kind of a lightweight by comparison. and neither of the sequels live up to the first
>>63021660
Midnight and Sunrise are brilliant in different ways, Sunset works as a smart sequel but not really standalone in the same way Midnight and Sunrise do.
>>63021660
Antonioni is borecore.
>>63021178
Wajda's war trilogy
Leone's Once Upon a Time trilogy
>>63021689
Although it seems unfair to criticize Sunset for not being standalone, since so much of it is about remembering and being connected to a prior moment.
>>63021660
>>63021793
>"thematic" trilogies
>>63021823
but the antonioni trilogy shares a character,you________
>tfw afraid to watch Before Midnight
I just liked the other two so much bros, I don't wanna ruin them
>>63021660
Go away, Sofia Coppola. No one likes you.
>>63021811
Sunset is in many ways a self concious re-tread of Sunrise, it's not about standalone in the sense of being able to watch one with out the other (Midnight's effect is greatly diminished without having seen the prior films) but in the sense that both Sunrise and Sunset cover the same territory emotionally with the protagonists being a little older and a little wiser. Don't get me wrong it's a fine film but it's clearly a film worried about how to work as a sequel.
>>63021660
DUDE IM RICH AND DEPRESSED LMAO
>>63021903
what the fuck
i hope you're not comparing antonioni's masterworks to lost in translation
>>63021896
I was afraid too senpai, I watched Sunrise and Sunset within a day of each other and it took me a year to watch Midnight. It's a truly great film though, and while the ending is ambigous it's pretty clear thatthey stay together and while they have problems they can work through them
>>63021957
What about this scene? How are these feelings a re-tread?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knIsOvGtBpY
This
>>63021660
Or Pakula's Paranoia Trilogy
Or Bergman's Silence Trilogy
Or The Evil Dead Trilogy
all better
Pusher trilogy was pretty fukkin sweet, 1 was good, 2 was better, 3 was dope AS FUCK.
Based milo
BRD Trilogy
>>63022034
Re-tread is a strong word, but both films at their heart are about romance, the endings to both films are fundementally similar. The fundamental difference is that Midnight is about an actual relationship.
>>63022054
>thematic trilogy
>thematic trilogy
>decent b movie schlock
nah senpai
>>63022150
>thematic trilogy
>thematic trilogy
What is this shit?
>>63021660
>Before Sunset doesn't live up to the first one
Before Sunset is leagues better, m8. Midnight is even a more complex film than Sunrise.
>>63022173
They aren't actual trilogies, the director just made a bunch of similar movies
>>63021178
>tfw this is my favorite Trilogy
No disagreements here, OP
golden heart trilogy
apu trilogy
>>63021178
agree.
I had a similar experience to Before Sunrise, but the girl wasn't as qt.
>>63022232
OP never said only trilogies with a connected narrative.
Toy Story Trilogy
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Spiderman Trilogy
Godfather Trilogy
I can name more.
>>63022357
I am the OP
Fame trilogy
>>63022392
Entry level as fuck to be honest
>>63022425
Well it's too late to make up more rules now.
the qatsi trilogy
>>63022453
It's just fucking stupid, films having similar elements don't make them trilogies, the reason good trilogies are so rare is exactly because it's incredibly difficult to make three good connected films. It's much easier to make three good films with vague similarities.
Cornetto Trilogy
Vengeance Trilogy
Koker trilogy you fucking plebs.
seriously gook moot, /film/ when ?
>>63021565
>ACCURATELY memed desu
ftfy
There's literally and objectively no trilogy better than Back to the Future.
>>63022451
And even entry level is better than Linklater drivel.
>>63022731
>Koker trilogy
This, or the Three Colors trilogy.
>>63021178
the last one is absoluting disgunting
>celine is now a regurgitant fat angry feminist, and they talk about skype and laptops
into the trash it goes
Road trip trilogy
American Pie trilogy
>>63021178
Before trilogy is dope af.
Sunrise probably has the best conversation topics
Sunset is my personal favorite because we see them together again, they've grown, AND THAT ENDING ;-;
Midnight is probably the best made, best written, and most realistic though
Is before sunrise really that good? I'm enjoying it, cute dialogue and topics, feels natural, maybe a little over the top on the young adult transitioning into the world ideas but i'd rate it like a 7/7.5
>>63025493
>using a 7.5 rating scale
what the fuck man
>>63021178
"Three Colors : Red, Blue & White" by Krzysztof Kieslowski is my favorite!!
Back to the Future
fight me
>All this meme trash
LOTR is the eternal GOAT and you know it
>>63028227
This and also The Man With No Name, though Before trilogy is also flawless.
>>63021178
I really want to read Jesse's books, especially the one with the pop song
>>63021336
that was beautiful
I like the Before trilogy a lot but come on, there are a lot of better trilogies out there.
Beginning with the Human Condition
Does the Noriko trilogy count?
Before Sunrise is one of the best films Ive ever seen.
