How did he do it?
>>
>>63004580
He sold his soul.
>>
Titanic is the ultimate chick flick and Avatar did extremely well overseas because it gave people who live in shit countries the ultimate escapism. Cameron truly is a money making genius.
>>
>>63004580
autistic passion for his artistic vision, mate
>>
Why is there a cross next to Jurassic World and Minions? Are they dead?
>>
>>63004665
still in theaters
>>
>>63004580
They will never beat gone with the wind
>>

>Titanic is the ultimate chick flick
Gotta be more than that. What's the second highest chick flick? Titanic must have tapped into something for men as well. In my opinion, it's just damned good.
>>
>>63004580

Good marketing? The list doesn't have very good movies, the only deciding factor between them is marketing and hype.
>>
Two reasons.
Audiences were still enamoured with 3D back in 2009. And ticket prices are basically five times what they were back in the 80s.
Actually what's more impressive is the fact older movies like Star Wars ended up grossing as much as they did. Granted they were in theaters for much longer, but the fact remains that the ticket prices were far lower.
>>
>>63004699
Good. My favorite.
>>
>>63004719

The men got to tap the chicks after they took them to see that shit.
>>
>>63004699
I'm glad since it's one of my favorite movies.
>>
>>63004719

Men were tricked into watching it because of the sinking boat. I saw this movie in the theater when I was a little kid thinking I was gonna watch a disaster/survival movie.
>>
holy shit i didn't know Jurassic world made that much money
>>
>>63004719
Titanic has good scenes, yes.
The shoe-horned love story kills it for men everywhere.

I didn't mind when I was 14. Now I realize Jack never should have had more than a fling with Rose. Leaving the boat with her, maybe, but certainly not killing himself over her.

>d-do m-me this honor
>>
>>63004864
I'm still surprised by how much Jaws made. I can understand the rest but Jaws was unexpected.
>>
>>63004967
it was an event. I remember my Dad told me everyone watched it like similarly to Jurassic Park
>>
>>63004967
Really? Jaws was the first summer film, and Spielberg always pleased crowds.

The one I don't understand is Doctor Zhivago.
>>
>>63004791
Yep, and there are retards on here who think episode 7 will do better than JW. Disney's stock lowered thanks to battlefront coming out last week and not doing as well as they expected. Everyone knows of the franchise, but not everyone gives a shit
>>
>>63005046
>Spielberg always pleased crowds
it's his 2nd film, Duel is for TV, the 1st is completely forgotten
>>
>>63004864
Based Ten Commandments, greatest film in the world
>>
>>63005071
Star Wars is big in the states but its just a nerd thing outside of the US.
Plus us English hate stuff forced down our throats and we can't look further than a water bottle to see 'star wars'
>>
>>63005311
Yep, that's why the original grossed over a billion from foreign box office.
>>
>>63004580
>Minions
>10th

I hate this world
>>
Wow, a list of movies that parents take their kids too more often than other movies that parents take their kids to. Such an accomplishment; what a great director.
>>
>>63005957
exactly, nerd
>>
>>63005957
That's why Episode 7 is going to be such a big blunder. I'm sure they'll keep it hidden from the marketing but once word spreads that there's a disgusting black man in a central role no one outside of the kekked west is going to see this thing.
>>
>>63005185

The majority of those are 2010 and on.
>>
>>63006146
The numbers will speak for themselves, kid. Sorry if your feelings get hurt by reality. Expect people who haven't been brainwashed by years of propaganda to watch a black in a movie and you may as well be asking them to eat a meal with a large turd in the middle of the plate.
>>
>>63004719
It was in theaters for fucking months where I lived and everywhere around it

Yawn. It's going to sleepwalk to at least $2 billion.

It wont even beat Avengers 2

You're not refuting anything. No one is trying to claim GWTW made more per year, just more overall. And that is objectively true.

When will these manchildren learn there is only one person that can make numbers like that happen?

It's true. I suspect he is a consultant on some of the bigger psyops, like the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

It's similiar to 1999 when they said Phantom Menace will certainly beat Titanic. Fucking retards.

>>63007769
>Cameron became an expert on deep-sea exploration in conjunction with his research and underwater filming for The Abyss (1989) and Titanic (1997). In June 2010, Cameron met in Washington with the EPA to discuss possible solutions to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon (BP) oil spill. Later that week at the All Things Digital Conference, he attracted some notoriety when he stated, "Over the last few weeks I've watched...and been thinking, 'Those morons don't know what they're doing'." Reportedly, Cameron had offered BP help to plug the oil well, but it declined. The oil spill was eventually stopped using techniques similar to those Cameron recommended.
>>
Fun fact: account for inflation star wars, alone, grossed 3 billion. That's why disney thinks they've got a surefire hit on their hands.

It makes me happy knowing that capeshit is no longer in the top 3

He makes movies that the populace demands instead of doing what pleases him. He makes movies for comsumption, not for appreciation of the medium.

Cameron wants to be the new De Mille, but unfortunately, he can't direct his way out of a paperbag.
>>
>>63009727
A James Cameron movie is still the highest grossing movie of all time.
