I believe only having control over someone for 12 hours would be sufficient to take over the world. You would have to use your powers subtly so the people around you don't realize you're controlling them. I wouldn't be stupid about it like Purple Man.

Yes. You wouldn't even need to get them high. Just make them think "oh I need to meet him again in the morning, he's going to tell me something very important". You could drive around all day in a nice luxury car and also have an office in the middle of the city, so you could co stanly meet 5 different people every 12 hours. With 6 hours of sleep a day that would give you plenty of free time as well, even accounting for each appointment or meeting being 30 minutes long. Most of the tasks they carry out while brainwashed would be done while they're not around you. Most of these tasks could be only subtly out of character for them.
Convince a local politician to meet you for coffee 11 hours later as you shake his hand. While he's meeting you in the cafe with his bodyguard, convince the body guard to like you and laugh at all your jokes, then convince the politician to vote differently on an upcoming bill or to pardon you for a crime or something. Or convince him to meet you in your car the next morning.
Convince a prostitute to give you a 40% discount. Convince your chauffeur and maid to work for you for less than minimum wage. Convince a gun shop owner to sell you a gun without even having a concealed carry permit. If you get caught with it, convince the cops it's no big deal.
You could take over the fucking world. Paul wolfowitz does shit like this without even having superpowers.
