To be fair, "moderate christian" should be a contradiction. The knowledge that an all knowing all loving all powerful entity created heaven and earth specifically to test man's worthiness to access "heaven" should be the type of knowledge that completely dwarfs all other concerns. But outside of islam and shitholes, god is just what helped people find some carkeys, win awards, score some points, etc. The modern idea of God going from the progenitor of everything, the force that allows all human experience, to spiritual teddybear is what Nietzsche was talking about when he said "god is dead."
