I used to think that after hating his standup (still do) but this new show is actually very funny. Not always laugh-out-loud funny but some great moments (fucking the guy's wife over a banana split and consequentially saving their marriage, for instance). The creators know good music, too, which is also a plus.

It's a sitcom discussing social issues. Half of the jokes aren't even laugh out loud funny. Dude I've laughed hard and more times to I Love Lucy then Master of None.
It's a decent sitcom, don't get me wrong but as far as sitcoms go--it's average. I'd wager All in the Family as the most revolutionary/important followed by Roseanna and then Friends in terms of just straight comedy.

What really bothered me in this show was the scene where the kids made a drawing for him, with him in it, drawn with brown skin. Obviously he is brown in real life so this is an accurate representation. How does he react? He remarks it's 'kind of racist'. Seriously? Are you this insecure with your own skin color that anyone pointing out the fact that you are in fact - in REALITY - brown and not white (or black, or yellow, or red) registers in your mind as racist?

why do people keep acting like this is pure SJW, in half the episodes they point out the negatives of behaving so progressively. e.g the episode where aziz is working on the ad and starts helping the women fit into less stereotypical roles, he gets fully replaced by women
I watched like four episodes but then I gave up. This show has literally the worst acting of any mainstream TV show I've ever seen. His Asian friend is terrible, the black chick is REALLY terrible (and it's not explained at all why the f she would be friends with any of them). Eric Wareheim's character is really stupid too, and he sucks.
I mean, it's fine that he wanted to make a socially conscious show or whatever, and it's kind of interesting in that way, but it's just fucking shoved down our throat the whole time. That one episode where they just kept watching Short Circuit 2 over and over was what made me turn it off. Indians don't even make up like 1% of the population in this country, yet the whole country is racist because they're not starring in TV shows? Aziz literally on a popular NBC show after Mindy Kaling was on one.
Plus it's such an annoying vanity project for him. We're supposed to believe that a fucking manlet ventriloquist looking Indian guy juggles multiple women, and some moderately attractive white women would chase him. A bunch of scenes are just other characters acting as vehicles for his standup material.
