Mine always watches tv without sound and I have no clue why

Why are parents such plebs?

She mostly watches American Dad and us reluctant to watch anything new or different
>>

I got mine to watch and enjoy In Bruges and Lost in Translation. I showed them those to build some trust and now maybe I can go a bit further next time.

When my parents and I get together is either OP's nightmare scenario or we watch a documentary, comedy special or Family Guy

my dad absolutely refuses to watch tv shows. i tried explaining to him that tv shows have evolved significantly but then he says "but with tv you have to always be there at a specific hour on a specific day to catch the new episode and it makes you a slave".

he doesn't understand what the internet is and that you can watch tv whenever the fuck you want
>>
>>62982000

I'll try to get her to watch In Bruges. The dead child thing might make her drop it (she's a pussy and doesn't like violence). She also hates anything over 2 hours.

My dad is very happy with their new smart tv and all the possiblities that comes with it, but him and my mom have never watched netflix or hbo go on their own, despite mine and my brother's subs being logged in.
He literally just zaps through the channels over and over and sometimes stops on storage wars for slightly more than five minutes.

Holy shit I never realized. She believes most of their shit(everything is degenerate, hates Muslims) and is voting for Carson too.

seems like a common thing but i don't get that behavior at all. if you don't have anything you want to watch on tv surely there's better ways to spend your time than mindlessly surfing channels. read a fucking book or get some work done or go out or get drunk or fuck your wife for fucks sake

They do nothing but talk about player and team statistics and bullshit about dumb player gossip. I can't possibly imagine how anybody could find that entertaining.

Jesus, the name of the show comes up on the guide at the bottom of the screen and you can see what it is. You don't have to spend so long lingering. Just hurry up and find something to settle on.

My dad used to do that at night. He would watch like old war movies with no sound on. He claimed it was because he didn't want to wake my mom, even though there was no way to hear it in the bedroom. But she's dead now and he still does it.

my mom has an uncanny ability to, even when she's not watching the movie/show and no matter what genre it is, stumble accidentally on the confession of love scene. like she'll walk through the living room at the exact moment the characters kiss or say "i love you". she then stops walking and watches it like she's mesmerized untill the scene ends and continues on on her business.

No? Invest in Fox then.
>>
>>62981566

My dad literally only watches the Weather Channel and Nascar.
>>
>>62981566
It took me years to see Cast Away and The Lord of the Rings trilogy in their entirety because my would put it on at random moments and then change the channel some time after.
>>
>>62983009

Where do yo get the notion that ESPN is dying? They're owned by Disney and pretty much have a monopoly on all the major sports.

That said, fuck ESPN and give me more options for sports coverage. Fox is decent for NFL but their college football coverage is atrociously bad.

>WOW ANON I JUST NEED TO STRAIGHTEN MY ROOM A BIT BEFORE THE MOVIE WHY CAN'T YOU JUST WAIT 2 MINUTES WHILE I DO THIS? I RAISED YOU BETTER THAN THIS! YOUR FATHER WAS ALSO VERY IMPATIENT AND HE DIED YOU NEED TO RELAX YOU LITTLE SHIT!

Every time my mom wants to watch a movie it's the same shit. She never lets me pick. Even if it's something I know she will like she will just say "No, not interested". Or act like it's homework and I'm some sort of cruel task master that is forcing her to watch shitty things

Why do people even flick from channel to channel when you can:

A, use the arrow buttons to see what's on the other channels without changing the channel.

B, bring up the tv guide and see what's on ten channels for the next three hours at once?

unfortunately, even though it's now a digital broadcast, over the air TV does not let you do this. its retarded. you can go forward ONE timeslot just on the channel you're currently on and that's it. it's possible the firmware in the TV is the problem, i guess, I never watch OTA on anyone elses machine. super annoying.

Also, as there's no unified service provider, there's no digital guide. we have a low-budget channel that is literally a three row scroll of the current time and rest of screen is infomercials.

HuffPo, of all places, actually has a decent online OTA tv guide as long as you run adblock.
