The Reds, man. They screw with his perception, make everything a combat op. Clemons had, in his skewed mentality, become a threat because he was working with the idea of capturing and imprisoning Killgrave (like a cop does), while Simpson was out for blood, and in that state of mind, threats could only be dealt with one way.
