The amount of the plot revealed is very similar to ANH. BB-8 is carrying a message for the resistance and while trying to get it to them Rey is kidnapped. Finn and Han go to Kanata to learn about stuff, Finn is given the saber and they fly off to rescue her on Starkiller base before the resistance destroys it. It's similar but different.
