The Mechagodzilla movies from the 70s are the best of the campy Godzillas.
The Heisei series is the best, most consistent series.
2014 Godzilla is the superior American version. Not that it has much competition.

I thought it as kinda funny that people mock Gamera but the plot for Godzilla 2014 is essentially the same as Guardian but with boring characters.
This got me back into loving kaiju again after a long drought. I think its a real testiment to how strong the series can be.
the showa series minus a few 60s ones still are enjoyable as ever and some like monster zero and the island series get better with more viewings. though ill always love the 70s more for the energy and the mechagodzilla movies
heisei i used to love and i still enjoy most but some like ghidorah and mothra dont age well to me.
i grew to love millennium most because i feel movies like pic related and GMK got the most from their humans, and how each director brought some personal style to the table.
2014 is a good starter and a good sign of years to come.
Gameras showa entries are enjoyable and fun, the trilogy, particularly 1 and 2 are amazing. the brave is underrated.

most people who mock gamera generally havent heard of the trilogy. to be fair to 2014, if youre gonna take influence from another movie, it might as well be one of the greatest reboots of all time. again to be fair, its characters would never be ble to compete with Dr. Qt Nagamine

I absolutely love "Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster".
Even if it's a re-purposed King Kong movie, I just love how fun and colorful it is, and seeing Godzilla just fucking around in some island (is he on a vacation or something?) and unintentionally ruining the plans of an evil organisation while doing so is glorious.
I like all the fights for different reasons, and I apreciate that is more laid back than any other movie. Just another day in Godzilla's life instead of some end of-the-world scenario.
I could watch it any time.
